After upgrading from Firefox OS 1.3 to 2.0 several things related to stored data stopped working.

  • Music app: MP3 are shown but don't play.
  • Galery app: Thumbnails are shown but the detail view does not work.
  • File manager app: App recognizes the amount of music (amount is shown in parenthesis)

but not the amount of images - the "busy sign" (rotating arrows) is shown forever. Clicking on the storage tab (the right one) isn't working. Videos aren't recognized at all.

I assumed a problem with my external SD-Card after the update so I removed it temporarily but this didn't help either so I now believe this is some sort of problem with my internal memory.

Can I reset some SQLite Indizes or something like that?

I tried to update the OS again, but I always get "Problem with download. Try later ...". This appears almost immediately after pushing the update button, so I wonder

if I now have another problem with the updates. :(

Hi thebrouhaha,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Firefox OS device after receiving an official update from Alcatel.

I would like to suggest some possible troubleshooting steps:

  1. Connect your device to the computer.
  2. Transfer all your files, music, and images in the internal and external storage in the phone to a backup location.
  3. Format the internal storage and the external storage (SD card).
  4. Transfer all the files back to the device.

I would also recommend contacting Alcatel's support channels and the place where you originally purchased the device. Alcatel is responsible for releasing updates, and it's possible that this may be an issue they are aware of.

Please let us know if your problem is resolved or if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Thank you very much Ralph!

After 1) backing up my data 2) formatting the internal and external storage and 3) transfering all data back everything works again! That did the trick! :)

Have a nice time and thanks again for helping out!

Best regards Richard
