I am trying to re-install Firefox but seems never to complete the installation. It does not open any websites and does not appear to connect to the internet. Also, I receive a message that the file VCRUNTIME_1.dll is missing; however, when attempting to download the file, it tells me the file is already installed.

Not really knowing how this effects my OS, I was wondering if it effects Microsoft OS and its updates and installation. I have not been able to install Windows 10 latest update for 2/9
Thank you, Rhonda

I’m running a windows 8.1 computer with several open tabs in my browser. This computer crashed and I can’t get back into windows to sync up (I’ve tried booting from various sources, automatic repair, etc. it just won’t boot up). I hope that I’ll be able to extract my important files from my hard drive. I’m setting up a new windows 10 computer. My question is, can I copy over a file from my old computer to my new computer that Firefox will recognize and open up the tabs that I was last working on from my old computer? I have not synced, but the last time that I was able to use my old computer I did close Firefox cleanly, and I was able to log off from windows with no serious issues. Hopefully there is a file that I can copy over which will simply allow me to continue working on my open tabs. Thanks in advance.

Hi. After a BSOD I have clean installed Windows 10 and Firefox on SSD. My data is on a separate HD including my profiles folders. Sadly the Firefox profile got overwritten with my Thunderbird profile - woops! So I am trying to restore from an old 2017 back up. Bookmarks have come through but I cannot get the logins and passwords to work. I have tried copying the following files into the profiles folder from the restored back up folder:
logins.json key3.db Cert8 prefs signon.sqlite
I have tried this with other older backups too I don't understand why the profile is being recognised (I have my old bookmarks back) but no the logins and passwords. Is there any way of testing whether they are corrupt? If all else fails, is there any other way of 'reading' the information in those files so I can manually enter them again in the new profile If you are wondering why I am going to a 2017 backup it is because my backup program decided to stop backing up my profiles after that date without my noticing nor asking my permission!! Grateful for any help

So recently my Firefox crashed (as it does sometimes when I sort my bookmarks) and I accidentally clicked refresh Firefox, thinking that it would just refresh everything like a restart does. Instead, it deleted everything - my logins, my cookies, my extensions - and I don't know how to get it back. I tried looking online for the answers, but none of the solutions I found worked (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1195682 was the closest one that had some semblance of sanity) and the closest I figured was that I needed to either create a new profile with different settings I could import from my Old Firefox Data or put the Old Firefox Data in the Profiles folder which doesn't seem to be working, as there are always two other folders within. I tried creating new profiles with the Old Firefox Data as the basis, yet it doesn't work. In addition, I like my old profile and don't exactly want to switch, although if that is the cost of retrieving my data, I will take it. Any solutions please? I rely on my computer quite often, and I don't want to be handicapped for a while. My computer is also the recent updated Mac version, if that helps.

I was cleaning out my hard drive and deleting old installs of Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable packages, and I almost certainly deleted the one that Firefox relies on.
I then attempted to start Firefox, getting the error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
I uninstalled, following the clean install directions, and deleting the "Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/" directory.
Then, I ran the Firefox Installer, newly downloaded, and when running it, it gives the same error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Selecting "Restore Defaults" has no effect either way. The installer then appears to complete in the background, and the Firefox directory is created, along with the executable.
When I run Firefox.exe, it seems to load the program, but any address I type in fails to begin loading. This includes websites (www.google.com) and help/utility pages (about:config). I'm therefore unable to change any settings within Firefox.
I then tried re-installing the "Visual C++ 2008" and "Visual C++ 2015-2019" packages in an attempt to restore that DLL, but that had no effect after repeating the same steps above (clean uninstall, re-install). Which VC++ Redist Package should I be re-installing? Ideally, I should be able to just get a copy of VCRUNTIME140_1.dll and place it where Firefox is looking for it.

I need to send my PC to the vendor (FNAC) for reparation. I want to clean my confidential files before sending it. Concerning firefox : how to desinstal it from my PC only, and reinstall it after repair with all the previous parameters and setting already installed ( list of passwords, ...)
said differently, I don't want to cancel it definitly because I use it on another computer and I want to recover it after my PC repair.
If you can help me I will really appreciate
