In a recent Firefox browser update, my ability to reference my home router by name via the Windows HOSTS file stopped. I can ping the router by name from a CMD window just fine but keying the name into Firefox now fails. Images show the two forms of failure - a 500 Error when DNS over HTTPS is enabled; a 'having problems' error with suggestion of www..com alternative when DNS over HTTPS is disabled. Neither is the least bit helpful.

I can't imagine what changed and I can't find a prior support response that gives any clear ideas.

The last few days Firefox 115.8esr started to give me a "Gah. Your tab just crashed." whenever I try to load somes pages, also sometimes it shutdowns as soon as a video is played in youtube.

After Firefox asked me to reset it and I created a folder with old firefox data, now Firefox does not open at all. I have tried to install it from scratch several times but the program is still not responding. I copied the folder with the old data to the 'Profiles' folder in Library/ApplicationSupport/Firefox and it still doesn't work (the icon keeps bouncing without the program opening). Hello! I have two FB accounts, one business and one personal. Since they started their new login procedure (trying to get access to your other devices), I can only log into my personal account on FF, because FB gives me other options besides logging in on another device, but on my business account, it doesn't. I work on my computer and refuse to give FB access to my phone because of all the annoying spam and notifications, and because I don't trust them.

I can only login to my business account on Chrome, and I don't trust it either. Is there a setting I need to change on FF to be allowed into this other account?

Long time technical, firefox user. One day starting firefox caused the system to slow unacceptably down. No changes before other than a possible background update from v122. Tried to do a Fresh Firefox v123, but firefox is attempting/constant localhost connections (ports in 40k-65k range) (attached screenshot).

It's on a Windows 10 desktop, uninstalled Firefox v123, manually deleted %appdata%\mozilla and %localappdata%\mozilla, reinstalled firefox, as soon as firefox.exe executes, I get constant localhost connection attempts from the "firefox.exe" process (Process Monitor image attached).

Ran dism, it found no system files had issues. Only firefox has an issue, the system is great without it running.

Is this a bug?

What does firefox use the localhost connection for?

Is there a secondary component that is required by firefox that it is not running on execution that it is looking for?

We have been trying to get to the bottom of this problem in my company, but we ruled out everything else than Firefox itself. Periodically Firefox experiences an APPCRASH event for multiple users. It used on a Windows Server 2019 that is used as a Terminal Server. When this APPCRASH occurs even though the profile of the user is there, Firefox creates a brand new profile for the user and all the passwords and form data is lost. Browsing history is lost too, but that is not a problem.

I've included some tracelog in the troubleshooting info field. Does anyone have any direction that I could go towards?

I have a very annoying issue.

I am on the Firefox ESR version which is deployed via Intune. I am on the latest 115.9.0 and on Windows 11 22H2

After a certain period of time (never took note of it sadly) tabs start crashing and keep crashing. The only way to fix this issue is to terminate firefox via task manager and relaunch.

What is the best way to start investigating this and try to understand what is causing the tab crashes.

I noticed that a couple of times when I click on an external link on a mail or a bookmarked site as icon on my mac, Firefox closes all the tabs and open that link in a new window, so I lose all the tabs and address... Sometime I have more than 30 tabs open and i't difficult to reopen all from history. What happen? Why? I can't see also the "restore last session" command into History menu. Can be fix it? When using the CPU, the browser runs at 144 fps, but if I switch to the GPU, it becomes 60 fps. I tried switching GPUs for firefox in the nvidia control panel and Windows graphics settings - nothing helped. Are there any solutions?

After I tried to fix a slow browser in troubleshoot mode and reseted firefox, I get each time i start Firefox a success page with the option of restoring tabs.

I don't want that, I want my own startpage when i start Firefox, but i tried to get rid of it whiteout success. I enclosed a screenshot of the page i see everytime now.

I hope there is a solution for it to get my startpage back.

Since yesterday, occassionally while using Facebook or Messenger, the tab crashes. Earlier today on the Messenger side, after reopening the Messenger tab after it crashes, it crashed again. It doesn't occur on other websites and the app doesn't crash, only the tab.

Using Firefox on "troubleshoot mode" doesn't have an issue when accessing when I visit those for a few minutes and with only one or two tabs open, and I'm afraid of visiting these sites for a while because it may crash again. Occurs on both Windows and Mac.
