Do I install the 64bit option or 32bit ?? The installer gives me a choice.

After installation on the new M3 mac, I will be migrating my Thunderbird profile from a 2021 iMac that runs BigSur on Intel silicon.

I'm anticipating updating the iMac to Sonoma, but long experience has shown me that major s/w version upgrades are often very unfriendly to 3rd party s/w apps&data, so I wanted to get my tBird profile (all my mail history) working on the new Mac before doing the major upgrade on my iMac.

My Thunderbird profile in Linux Ubuntu 24.04 is in /home/dick/Thunderbird_mail/me. I want to copy it to a new directory. I copied it using the following commands: dick@dick1:~$ mkdir t2 dick@dick1:~$ cp -rf Thunderbird_mail t2

I then ran "thunderbird -P" and created a new profile pointing to /home/dick/t2/me When I opened this profile I got the message "You have launched an a\older version of Thunderbird.", even though I was running the same version of Thunderbird. If I open the profile in Thunderbird_mail/me, it works correctly. If I open the profile in t2/me with the same executable of Thunderbird, I get this message.

How can I copy my profile to a new directory?

dick@dick1:~$ thunderbird --version Thunderbird 115.11.1

Hi,

I have this setting enabled: Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them

Yet twice in the last couple weeks, Thunderbird has updated without asking.

I do not run any updater software, TB must be doing this itself.

What settings in v115 are required in the config editor to ensure that updates are not installed without user intervention?

Thanks Russell

I lost my previous PC due to an unrecoverable hard drive crash. My current email provider is AOL and I was using the Thunderbird email app prior to the crash. According to some of the O&A posed at this site, I may have to contact AOL directly for assistance.

Please advise what information I need from them to complete the installation. I know you guys are busy and I can receive current emails from AOL at this time so there is no need to rush on my account.

I like Thunderbird a lot.

Thank you. Bob Perry

I would like to not be a polygamist with my phone/computer. I would like to have Thunderbird Supernova only on my android BLU G91 phone and not K9mail also. I would like to start and stay with supernova. on my google store app, it refuses to allow me to see the thunderbird supernova app to install and only offers me k-9 mail. How do i avoid K-9Mail and later having to switch to Supernova, if i can start at the beginning with Supernova? Thank you.....b³
