hijack by conduit? If so how to remove it.
My firefox since updated last has started to show a strange search page when I initiate a new tab.

is what shows up. I cannot seem to get it removed. Has anyone had this problem and solved it?
thank you for any help.

You can also use a program I personally use whenever I run across a problem like what you're having. I use AdwCleaner, it removes junk toolbars and other things that hijack your search engine and what not on web browsers.
Here's Life Hacker's article on it: http://lifehacker.com/should-i-remove-it-tells-you-which-programs-are-safe-t-1113609875

Hi,
You will want to uninstall any Conduit stuff from your computer via Control Panel. Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program
You should reset all prefs in about:config to default that contain anything with Conduit You can try to reset the prefs that do that to see if it'll reverse the action
- Navigate to about:config in your Address Bar
- Press the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button to proceed
- Search for conduit and reset all prefs by right clicking and clicking Reset
Last thing,
You can delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release. You can get to the profile folder below:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Show Folder
or
- Go to about:support and click Show Folder next to Profile Directory.
Make sure that nothing related to Conduit is in your Extensions list (Go to The image "new fx menu" does not exist. > Add-ons > Extensions and remove anything that you don't recognize.
