I'm very frustrated with FF. It's running slow. Downloads are slow etc. I've tried everything that FF has recommended up to and including "refresh" with no effect. It's getting to the point I'm considering not using FF. Does anybody have any suggestions?

How are you determining it's running slow?

How long it can take to boot up in computer time. How long it takes to access various bookmarks. How long it takes to download things. All compared to Chrome and Edge.

I'm at the point unless FF does something to deal with the slowness I'm going to cease using it.

Update: Well, after many, many, hours investigating things I finally figured out, with the help of Dell, what was causing the slowness in all my browsers, especially FF. It seems that a Dell app, Support Assist, was causing the problem. It has a reputation for being buggy. I did a clean uninstall and my system seems to be operating almost normally. Downloads et al are working pretty well and my memory usage has returned to almost normal. Now, I would also comment that FF still uses more memory than Chrome according to task manager. Anyway, I wanted to set the record straight.
