Crash ID: bp-f8ea7ab2-6161-446b-b1fe-c62182160913 started compuCrash ID: bp-f8ea7ab2-6161-446b-b1fe-c62182160913 started computer this morning. tried to log on to firefox. got an immediate mozilla crash reporter box. did a reboot, no change. did a scan, no unfixable problems. tried a restore, but on this old xp i've never had any success with their control points and no recent manual restore points. Uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, no help. Safe mode doesn’t work. i founf this site searching the web. it's appearance is sort of ms-dos. some buttons don't work and when they do i don't get the things i'm supposed to. as a result i don't have any troubleshooting info, browser settings or even firefox version, although i assume i downloaded the latest when i reinstalled. sorry if i seem helpless, but i just might be. Need help. And after I get this running again how to I recover my old bookmarks and settings?

hi bjakejake99, thanks for providing a crash report id. we have seen quite a number of similar reports about this issue in the last hours and this issue is likely caused by your symantec security software that is hooking into firefox (probably through a program/signature update done by them). other users reported that updating firefox in this situation helped with the crashes. you can download & install the latest firefox from https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-48.0.2-sha1&os=win&lang=en-US

hope i'm not repeating myself again. all is well now thanks for the latest update hint. 1 of my 3 computers was ok. so, between that as a baseline and chasing the update on the other 2 i finally got it sorted out. 2 of the 3 are win 7. the other is XP and that gave me fits. i must have looked at 4 dozen mozilla crash reporter boxes, so frustrating. all good now thanks to you guys and mozilla for doing the work symantic should be doing.
