When I click on firefox icon there's no window that opens but the tool bar and the url are at the top of the page???

Why are you using an old Firefox 4.0 beta 4 version (latest is 4.0b6) ?

Such version are meant for testing purposes by experienced users who know how to deal with issues and not for daily use.

You should stick with the official release (currently 3.6.10).
