I have been using the Walgreens web site to manage my many prescriptions without problems. Now, most of the Walgreens web site still works but the two menu options that need to display my personal prescription details fail with the display "Sorry, an unexpected error occurred. Please try again later." I initially thought that a Walgreens update might be in progress so just waited. Walgreens support gave me the same answer that there was probably web site maintenance in progress. After 4 days of the same problem and answer, I ported enough information to login in to Walgreens with the Microsoft Edge browser and access to my prescription information worked without a problem. I believe this problem with Firefox started around the time I updated to 117.0.1 but I might not have this perfectly correct. I was just notified to update to 118.0 and did so. Firefox access still fails and Edge access still works. Thanks for any help you can provide. Windows 10

I am using Firefox 115.3 on Debian 12.1. I have numerous tasks which require the use of my web browser and have allocated a different virtual desktop for each. This means that my browser session typically has several dozen tabs open in numerous windows at one time. Under normal circumstances, this works just fine (and is a testament to the engineering that has gone into this browser).
My issue is that Firefox renders my machine virtually unusable for a few minutes each time I restart my desktop session due to focus stealing. When I open the browser, several dozen windows pop up (as expected) and relocate to their correct virtual desktops (as expected); however, as the windows begin to load, the most recently active Firefox window steals focus repeatedly. If I am, for instance, in the process of typing my password into my desktop e-mail client, a Firefox window may steal focus from the password dialog. In practice, this focus steal happens once every few seconds for several minutes.
I would prefer that Firefox would not steal focus while restoring a session. Does anyone have any suggestions for correcting this issue?
Somehow, I have 2 sets of Bookmarks. Would it hurt to remove the 2nd set?

When watching streams in firefox, I noticed that overall iGPU load is very high, up to 70%, a lot higher than watching 1080p movie with dedicated player.
I found that the firefox actually only shares 10~20 iGPU load, the rest are from DWM, which load is up to 40% sometimes.
Also found if I switch from the tab with streaming page to another normal webpage, DWM immediately drops its usage to about 2%, firefox still uses some load as it's still decoding. DWM usage rises if I switch back.
I tried force firefox to use nvidia dGPU, firefox does use nvidia card to decode, but the DWM problem said above still apply.
See attatched image as prove.

Whenever I launch Firefox, I get the error message "Firefox couldn't update automatically. Download the new version - you won't lose saved information or customisations." I download and install the .dmg for the new update, but I still get this error message whenever I launch Firefox. I used to be able to have updates installed automatically without requiring to manually download each Firefox version. Could someone please assist? Details below:
Firefox version: 117.0.1 (64-bit) MacOD: Ventura 13.5.2
Many thanks :-)

Hi all,
I noticed a kinda strange behaviour on one of my devices with FF install. On a sigle host (Windows 10, FF v. 118.01 but the issue was present also on previous versions) after every automatic FF update history, cache, cookies and accesses are cleared, which force me to login in again everywhere; also some extensions are affected (Bitwarden). This behaviour is manifesting only on a single device of mine, on every other after FF update accesses etc. are kept. I tried to look around in settings but I didn't find anything related. Have somebody experienced the same problem? Is there any settings (maybe properties under about:config) that can change this behaviour?
Thanks

Watching videos on Twitter/X doesn't seem to work too well on Firefox. I don't have an account, but I sometimes have to watch a clip on the site. The problem is that you cannot skip the video i.e. you cannot move the dot that shows where you are on the video; you have to watch it from the start, till the end. You cannot also change the volume, apart from clicking on the "mute", so technically here you have the options of full sound and no sound. Twitter has always worked perfectly on the Microsoft Edge that came with the Windows on this desktop PC (bought in fall 2020).

I use the NVDA screen reader to read aloud the contents of applications on my computer.
If I open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat, the screen reader will read aloud the content of the alt text associated with each image. When I open the same PDF in Firefox, however, the screen reader is evidently unable to recognise the presence of alt text; therefore it remains silent when it reaches an image - it's as if there's no alt text to be read.
Can you please clarify: is there a way for me to configure Firefox (either in the settings or in about:config) so that alt text in PDFs will be recognised by screen readers?

Hi
When you highlight a line or something you want to search, once you highlight and copy it. After you do, byou can go in and delete what you just copied and searched for. Problem I'm having, is that it deletes from the area that saves them, but if you go to the search bar, it is still available there, even though I had deleted it.
Please look into this
Thank you

I'd really like Firefox to use my X selection buffer, or, if that's not possible then stop supporting shift+insert because the inconsistency is jarring.
In a terminal I highlight then use shift+insert to paste, but when use shift+insert in Firefox it pastes my copy buffer rather than my selection buffer. So I copy something from the web, then use shift+insert in my terminal because I'm used to that now, and I paste the wrong thing in. And I highlight something in my terminal, switch to Firefox and use shift+insert to paste it, and it pastes the last thing I ctrl+c'd.
If shift+insert did nothing in Firefox then I'd get used to it, but the switching back and forth is something I stub my toe on every day. Does nobody else feel this pain? Please fix it!

Many bugs and crashes with Firefox
Only way to update Firefox is via https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release Which always shows the wrong language. Only way to update Thunderbird is via https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/#product-desktop-release Here, I can click on letter from my language and download the setup package. After this update installation was done, the Help --> About (program name) window show the program is last version. But not seems not always the last version, like version x.x.01 to x.x.02, then tries to install this newer small version and gets stuck in the same loop or corruption.
Missing file(s) and/or some strange error message after I clicked on the shortcut from the program. Another run from this "update" setup is needed. Remove a or all "Firefox.exe" from the Taskmanager list.
Already from earlier versions of Firefox. And also Thunderbird too. This bug seems to sit deep inside the programs. I should be to use Firefox, Thunderbird, Notepad together, with having a some folders open. Switching between them can be annoying slow. Takes longer time be before responding. I'm seeing empty white or black windows. Only last selected section is visible, has the text and smaller pictures. I can have Firefox and Thunderbird left open for hours and later finding one or both programs are closed by itself. No reason, no permission given to do that. Add a new tab or click on a current site, there is no (fast) respond. Same for buttons, filters and filling in forms on a site. One program can pull the other program in closing to when the one is crashing. Also Windows will show several error messages about programs are using to much memory and must be closed. If this has programs listed, then Firefox seems to appear most here of the programs I'm using.
Updating doesn't fix anything Using the safe mode and new profiles are no long time solutions, every time anything is gone or nog working better.
It seems you must have 2 profiles running at same time when you want read something and not switching back between every minute or so. If 1 is near crashing, you have still the other one running.
Same for responding on clicking, using filters, buttons and sending forms. Clicking on those (annoying) accept (popup) windows. Unable to login or confirm an (security) action like this with a word or number given via e-mail. Might be something for the site. When you need to use Private Browsing for this.
"Seems fine here, but something with you". Refresh page doesn't fix it. Wait and try again later, how long? Firefox should block these sites.
I had Firefox running for some hours, these sites are still stuck in "loading" or something else.
Now, I created again a new profile and again this doesn't fix them. Even more bugs and stranger. Again lost everything, settings, sites, installing dictionaries and add-ones. Stupid.
That makes it to post my problems here.
In Settings (via about:preferences#search), there are no search engines (Google, Wikipedia, ect) in the list, who should be there by default. Also there's no default search engine selected, the list therefor is small and empty.
And the about: .... pages. While with a new profile I can visit those sites, but right click menu is bugged.
Windows PC. Firefox version 117.0 x64. Via Help --> About Firefox, because about:support doesn't show the version and build.

Hi,
I need Proxy settings to use some of the company's applications. Until yesterday, I was able to set them and change them at will. Today, the browser disabled this ability, so I can't use some applications. The fields are grayed out and I can't change them (screen attached). What could be the problem and how to change it as soon as possible? I am not familiar with technical issues, so please give me very simple answers that I will understand and take as little time as possible.

I really liked that feature. I know a lot of people don't, or don't see its point; that's not important.
About three years ago, I added UserChrome.js and enable-UserChrome.js , which acomplished the two autopuopulating tasks quite nicely.
Until about four weeks ago. I don't know if an FF update stopped reading those two .js files, or if there's a conflict somewhere else, or what. I don't know where to begin - other than posting here for help.
Thanks in advance!

When searching queries, this error will come up; however, when searching full length URLs it works and sends me directly to the website. I've looked through the Q/As and they all recommend clearing cache/cookies and messing with the history settings to resolve the problem. However, after doing all that and messing with other settings I cannot seem to understand why this started to happen.
When in private browsing mode it works fine and I can ask whatever and I receive all the possible websites to click on. It's just on normal browsing that I receive the error message. Am I going to need to just uninstall Firefox and reinstall to fix this? Or maybe there's something else I can try out. Thanks!

Hi,
I'm on Arch Linux and use uinput to create key events. It works reliably for >12months in all applications and under all circumstances except in Firefox where some key events are skipped non-deterministically. My test case is:
in a text field, emit `<ctrl down>a<ctrl up>123456789987654321<left>...<left>` with 9 times `<left>`. Sometimes a 9 is missing and sometimes the cursor is further to the right than expected.
This happens every 8th try or so, which is too frequent to not break the user experience.
What I have tried: - multiple PCs (2 with this issue and 1 without) - Troubleshoot Mode - `window.onkeydown=(e)=>console.log(e)` (events are missing)
Since I've only ever seen repeated characters/keys disappear and never when writing manually, I would guess there is some kind of event cleanup algorithm kicking in. (the events are emitted without any delays)
I would really like to fix this issue because Firefox is my favorite browser. Any idea how to track it down?
