I have used a Mac mini with OS.X 10.6.8 for 2 years

For last 2 weeks I have been unable to read or save .pdf files from web pages. I get only a blank white page.

Previously, pdf files were donw loaded using Preview. I have followed a suggestion in Firefox Help, and changed to using Acrobat. No change. Today I disabled and reloaded Acrobat 10.1.4. No change.

Safari can get me pdf files, but I want to continue using Firefox.

Does it still work with Preview?

Try to disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader

No. Tried Acrobat, Preview and Word via Firefox/Preferences/Applications. None of them work. I can get pdfs with Safari, but I would prefer not to go that route

New Information!

I discover I am able to download a pdf file when directed to go via Scribd (Adobe Reader is set as default). I still cannot do so when I click on a link within a web page document, such as a newspaper article.
