after upgrading successfully to 10.0.2 and 11, when I restart the next day, 3.6.28 opens. Please advise
using xp SP3. This has occurred every day since upgrading to the new versions. Able to upgrade successfully and use for the rest of the day. Then, after shutdown at night and upon restart in AM, older version opens.

Without having tried anything new since my last post, for reasons I cannot figure out, the problem has solved. I waited several days (to reply) to confirm all is working properly, and for now all is good. THANK YOU to all you replied. This was my first use of the forum and I appreciate your time and generosity.

Either you have security related, or backup software that changes this back, or possibly you have multiple versions installed and 3.6.28 is remaining the default.
john99, thank you for the prompt response. i can't imagine the 1st scenario, so let's look at the 2nd. How would I determine if there were 2 verisions and then delete the older one?
Nothing has solved this issue. Each day I download and upgrade to the latest version directly from Mozilla. I install one add-on (Morning Coffee, which I have used for years). It updates sucessfully and I use FF with no issues the rest of the day. Then, in the morning, I am back to 3.6.28 (when I open FF, it begins by telling me my current/updated Morning Coffee is incompatible with 3.6.28).
I have tried
- deleting 3.6.28 completely before upgrading
- disabling my AVG Free before downloading & upgrading (enabling it again after the upgrade)
- using no back up software
- not downloading & installing the Morning Coffee add-on
Would love assistance solving this! Thanks in advance....
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization (sandbox) features that can cause such problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox program and/or profile folder.
Corel, THANK YOU for your post. I'm using the free version of AVG (version 2012.0.1913) and Windows firewall.
If you go into Start, then Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs, find Firefox on the list, click it, and select version number, what do you see?
Also, try this. Go to www.getfirefox.com, download the latest Firefox, (make sure Firefox is closed), then install it. Does that help?
