Sorry, resetting your Toolbars & Controls in the Firefox SafeMode can not be undone. You will have to re-create your custom buttons.

I just need to set them up again-actually which I have already started because it was just so inconvenient to go even an hour without some of these things. to my surprise, as I was attempting to get help on this problem-here I am back at my own problem that I was attempting to solve some time ago. I was also surprised to see that 40 people have this problem and 5 this week. I wonder if it isn't more but is phrased in a slightly different way but all through-none shows that any response was helpful. My being back to resolve this shows that I am still trying to solve me issue. I now have gotten my buttons in place but I do not have the text that goes with those buttons and some just take a place with a block that has no identification at all. Please tell me how I can take each and every one of those buttons to get them back to normal. This is slightly different from my original problem. This is top importance for me. I am up to date with my Firefox 3.6.15 version, use XP64bit Professional, and it has been recommended that I move this to Windows 7-the PC was bought as an XP downgrade from 7 but the Dell tech support person felt that it would be better to do a clean install of 7 after saving my info but since I am having trouble with this loss of usefulness without doing any big change of my PC. So, I need your suggestions on how to fix these buttons and also your tips regarding the jump to 7. I made the decision to get XP after 7 was out because this is business computer and I have my hands full taking care of other new things on my PC and did not want to get used to a new OS at the sane time. I feel that I am still in same situation but if he is right that there must be some sort of malware that I could get rid of by doing this clean install-well, I am trying to talk myself into this and would like to know your thoughts. You have helped me in the past and "the-edmeister" seems to know things that I cannot assess in advance. I don't want to find myself in a place that I wish I had not taken when there is no way back but by same token, it may be the best change to make at this time. Hoping for some new suggestions. I am afraid that you will say that I must reset every button again but whatever is said, I know that I will do whatever it is.

Can I simply re-install MF 4.0 to reinstall the original toolbars?

I understand the point of asking a question in its own place to start a thread since it is new problem but cor-el, are you saying I am elderly?!?! I still would like to know what to do to avoid this in the future. As an update, I disabled a couple of add-ons and to my amazement, my toolbar buttons with text-returned! I had given up all hope and thought they had been lost when I did the earlier "resetting Toolbars & Controls in the Firefox SafeMode which I was told was permanent and therefore I gave up all hope that they would ever return in the form that I prefer. Unfortunately when I did that, I did not think about putting the details here to document what made the change take place. When I find my notes from the time, I will add the details regarding how I got the toolbar Buttons back in the way I like to see them on my screen. It is really great to have them back that way-it was usable the other way but upsetting every time I had to use them in that way. I am not the"elderly", that is a strange choice of words to describe this thread but it surely did catch my eye. Have a great day!

This is partially under this topic although after I started this, I uninstalled some add-ons and my toolbar buttons suddenly went back to how I had been accustomed to having them. Unfortunately, now I need those additions back again! I was in need of adobe support because I had been unable to download an upgrade that I purchased. During a support session that lasted several frustrating hours, the program was partially installed but in doing it, I suffered a complete loss of everything on my computer-not a thing was available. Fortunately, I have a backup which has restored what it could. Unfortunately, it does not restore how I make this computer mine and that has a lot to do with buttons, etc. Also during this support session, she took me to FF4 which I did not want-she said I could go back. Alsom since I am one person who uses this PC I never put my name in it-I was administrator but since she installed her name and also put my name in-now, I cannot go back to administrator which is where my info would be saved if at all.What do you recommend? There are so many variables in this that it has become a major mess. Little by little, each day I am trying to grow this PC into what I had last week. IT is exhausting. Please, I hope you have some miraculous recommendations. Thanks in advance for your help.
