Hi there, I'm trying to access the site- https://dwhphd.dcservices.in/DWH_PHD_OPEN/startup/loginAction using Mozilla Firefox version 41.0.1 which is recommended by the developer of the site but every time i get the message "Secure connection failed" on my screen. The site is the official page for the pharmaceutical related work of the Government of Maharashtra state of India. I have had tried every other way to resolve this issue suggested by the Mozilla Firefox Troubleshoot Forum but eventually nothing had worked well for me even i contacted the owner of the site but they pointed out the issue with browser because the same site is working very well on any other PC. Kindly do suggest the solution....Please!

I tried your link using Firefox v54 and v61. It looked okay to me. Check with the site support on that. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

Often, "Secure Connection Failed" means "Connection Failed (trying to load a secure page)". In other words, not a security problem, just a connection problem.

In addition to the above :

You say :

" .... contacted the owner of the site but they pointed out the issue with browser "

You are using a very old version (41.0.1) - maybe if you'd update to the latest version ......

The latest release version (61.0.1) you can download from here :

https://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all/

If you need an ESR version, please see :

Well, thanks for the replies. As per your advise about the security interceptions by the software, i uninstalled all of them and tried to access the site but even that went wrong. The other suggestion is about the upgrading the browser but the developer of the site have suggested to only work with Mozilla Firefox version 41.0.1 hence i can't access the site on the latest version of the firefox as data won't be sent properly. So neither the options are helpful and i'm still getting the same error. What to do now?

If the developer is saying it will only work in Firefox 41, then they are obviously a bad web developer. You should NEVER use an out of date browser. Please update to Firefox 61.0.1, and then tell us if there are any issues with the site.

Yes, i'm telling you to ignore the instructions from the "developer" because they are bad.

The server doesn't send a required intermediate certificate (RapidSSL SHA256 CA) needed by Firefox to build a certificate chain that ends in a trusted root certificate.

A server needs to send the full certificate chain that includes all required intermediate certificates. Firefox will store intermediate certificates that a server sends in the Certificate Manager for future use. If you have visited a website that has send this intermediate certificate in the past then Firefox will not display the error page when you visit a server that doesn't send this intermediate certificate.

You can save the below posted certificate text to your Desktop.

You can import this certificate file in the Firefox Certificate Manager under the Authorities tab.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates: View Certificates -> Authorities: Import

You can find the Certificates section at the bottom of the "Privacy & Security" page or use the search bar (certificate). If you reload the page then you should no longer get this untrusted error.

Do NOT set any trust bits when prompted on an intermediate certificate. Trust bits are only required for trusted root certificates and should never be set on an intermediate certificate.

Obviously the developer is worst and very outdated. I have tried the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox but the site is not working there too so I thought as per the recommendations of the developer i switched back to version 41.0.1 but wasn't great. I couldn't import the certificate as the notepad file is not recognized by the system (because the certificate file format is something else which can't be saved in notepad).
