Deleted messages with Thunderbird 38.1.0 are not being moved to the trash folder.

After upgrading to Thunderbird version 38.1.0, my deleted messages are not being moved to the trash folder. The system has two email accounts and both have the same server settings/when I delete a message: move to the Trash folder. None of the deleted emails are showing up in the Trash folder. The deleted messages work as designed before the latest upgrade.
