Hello,

during the night my samsung tablet's Firefox for android got an automatic update, after that when I open firefox I can see only default Top Pages, there are no Bookmarks and no history stored. I actually don't care that much about history, but losing all the bookmarks really hurt me. I was using them just an hour before update and after that everything disappeared.

Just in case, I wasn't using any other program or doing anything with the tablet, basically just plugged it to recharger, made breakfast, returned and got my eyes blown out of the sockets (:-)). Google play popped up successful update, it also says that the latest version is installed. Otherwise the browser works ok, but I would really like my bookmarks :-). I also don't use sync, so I'm not even logged into it.

I also tried restarting firefox as well as turning off and back on the tablet, nothing led to success.

I'd like to very kindly ask if there is anyone who could advice me if there is any way to restore my bookmarks?

Thanky you very much for your time and your precious advice, I really appreciate it.

PS: Please help.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about that. First, Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing.

Click the Bookmarks button Bookmarks-29 (or New Fx Menu > Bookmarks) and select Show All Bookmarks.
At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
In the new window that appears, click OK.
Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Bookmark / History Backups

Type about:support<Enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Enter the bookmarkbackups folder. This is where Firefox makes backups of your bookmarks. Look for the jsonlz4 file you want to restore (check the time / date / size). Right click on that file and select Copy. Now go back to the profile folder where you started. Rename the file places.sqlite by adding .old to it. Now right click in the folder and select Paste. The file you just pasted here, rename it to places.sqlite. After you are done, restart Firefox.
