When I launched Thunderbird today, it would not connect to one mailserver: imap.mailfence.com. At the same time, Thunderbird said to restart to update to 115.2.2. After updating, it still refuses to connect. There is nothing wrong with Mailfence and I do not find anything wrong with the configuration settings in Thunderbird. I even tried to set up my Mailfence email account again but it failed because it could not connect. Ideas? Thank you.

Our small business has a handful of Zoho email addresses that we use via Thunderbird on MacOS computers in our office. The computer I am using only has some of the email addresses listed in Thunderbird, and I am trying to add the rest.

Once all requested data is entered in the "Set Up Your Existing Mail Address" screen, we receive the error message: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, user name, or password." All of the data is correct, and I have tried this process different weeks to see if the issue will clear on its own, but no. I've attached a screenshot of the error message.

I have tried this with several pre-existing email addresses and it's giving me the same message, although it did allow me to add one address recently. That newly added, previously existing address is now somewhat accessible via Thunderbird, but every time we open Thunderbird it says "Login to server imap.zoho.com with username shipping@jadeandpearl.com failed." I can access the inbox and other folders of this account in the Thunderbird desktop app, but it is not currently showing new email.

Thunderbird version: 115.12.1 (64bit) MacOS: Sonoma 14.5

Short background: Critically low on disc space. Windows pointed out a potentially extraneous 8.5gb NS3TMP Thunderbird file. Extensive Googling convinced me it would be safe to delete this file. To be safe (HA!) I first copied it to an external drive just in case things went south. They did.

After the copy, I went back and deleted the NS3TMP file. However, much to my horror, instead of deleting 8.5gb as expected, 30.5gb got deleted. After that, Thunderbird would not start claiming my profile was missing.

I copied the 8.5gb backup file back to its original place. No joy. Same message from Thunderbird.

At this point, I recreated my profile pointing Thunderbird to my Outlook email account.

I could now sign into Thunderbird and T'bird started populating the inbox and sent folders, but only partially. Worse (MUCH worse) my critical Thunderbird local folders were nowhere to be found. I attempted several folder recovery procedures to no avail.

I confess, I do not know how Thunderbird works its magic behind the scenes. Were my local folders part of the surprise 30gb file deletion and thus gone for good? Would the original emails that had been dragged into the various folders still be sitting on Outlook's servers?

As I said, totally self-inflicted but hopeful there's a road to recovery.

Any assistance or consoling words would be much appreciated.

Dear

Subject to the following mail addresses: gunter.peeters@scarlet.be

We keep getting the following message when sending emails. An error occurred while sending email. The mail server replied: ip 213.49.30.104 blocked for relaying spam http://www.scarlet.be/pm/?e=f53&s=r&p=213.49.30.104. Please check if your email address is set correctly in your account settings and try again.

We are able to receive emails.

Is it possible to check this out?

Thanks in advance!

We have recently moved to a new mail server. We currently have about 20 Thunderbird email clients on Windows in an office location and a macOS home machine. On all machines email is configured to use IMAP on hostname.com port 993 SSL/TLS with Normal Password and SMTP on hostname.com port 465 SSL/TLS with Normal Password.

The home machine is working 100% with no issues, it does have a much faster and lower latency internet connection than the office machines.

Many of the office machines are experiencing intermitent SMTP error messages when sending, intermitent, "unable to save mail in the Sent folder of the Inbox", messages and intermitent unable to move messages between folders.

I have checked and double checked the settings on affected machines - however, I believe a settings issue would result in nothing working, not intermitent functionality. Plus all is working fine on the home machine with the same settings (different OS, but ports and security settings all dictated by server).

With one client behaving properly, the server likwise behaving properly when addressed by the working client and the intermitent nature of the problems we are finding, I suspect we have some sort of network issue. Somthing timing out or a firewall/AV software causing a delay.

I have increased mailnews.tcptimeout on affected machines to 250 based on a forum article but this has had no effect (No idea of units here but if it is seconde then I am not supprised - the SMTP errors, when they happen are almost instantanious).

Any ideas on how to trobleshoot this problem further - The problem seems to get worse through the day, although that may just be peoples tollerance of an intermitent issue going down.

Hi everyone, My Thunderbird yesterday - without doing any unusual chances that know of - went weird. Whenever I open the programme now it shows a completely different interface and I can't navigate back in any way to the usual calendar, email, contacts. It also seems to be frozen, because when I click settings it doesn't open any window. I have attached a screenshot of how it looks now.

Could anyone help me out on how to get back to regular Thunderbird? I am also a bit worried of losing all my contacts / calendar.

Let me know if there's more info I can give from my end. Any help very much appreciated.

Regularly the messages in some subfolders are doubled. I don't know why or how it was triggered. It is very annoying, because some subfolders contain a lot of messages. Since I don't know how to get rid of this double messages, except by deleting them by hand one at the time, it is a very time consuming matter. I tried repairing the folder, but that didn't work. I already have had a folder where all messages were doubled several times. So every message was there six, seven, or eight times! Is there somebody with an explanation and - preferably - a solution to prevent this?

To the Mozilla Community:

I have a Posteo account and set it up successfully in Thunderbird. Emails and Calendar are both working without any issues.

However, Posteo contacts are not syncing. I used the TbSync / Provider for CalDAV and CardDAV without success. And using the Add CardDAV Address Book in Thunderbird is not working either.

Posteo Support confirmed my settings are correct. (Enter https://posteo.de:8843/addressbooks/johnexample/default in the URL field and replace johnexample with the local part of your email address. )

Any assistance that can be provided to troubleshoot and resolve this issue is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi, first I've been using Thunderbird for decades and couldn't do without it -- keep up the good work! I have a keyboard shortcut bug and an icon action bug to report, as well as a text formatting suggestion. As background, I'm running TBird 115.12.1 (64-bit) on Windows 10 and have three different IMAP email accounts and a collection of local message folders that I access.

  • Keyboard Shortcut Bug: I use the the filter box activated by <Ctl+Shft+K>. Everything works fine when I freshly launch TBird, but after some variable length of time after switching between various apps and activities, when I return to TBird I find that <Ctl+Shft+K> does not switch focus to the filter box. In this state, typing a search string gets lost. I can manually select the filter box and enter a search string, but the keyboard accelerator is not functional. It does not repair itself until I relaunch TBird. I have tried unsuccessfully to isolate events outside of TBird that bring this on.
  • Icon Action Bug: I also use the inbox selector icon and a similar problem happens after extended external session activities, but not necessarily coincident with the filter box problem. The inbox selector icon stops functioning to display the new input mailbox folder being selected -- it keeps the previously selected folder in the mailbox window. To switch to another folder, I have to manually open the folder sidebar menu and select the folder I want to display. Again, I have not been able to pin down what causes this to happen. It resets to normal function when I reload TBird.
  • Text Formatting: Before the upgrade to SuperNova, when composing/editing a message, I could select disjoint strings (using <ctl>select) and have text formatting options (like text style) apply to each of the selected substrings in parallel. Now with SuperNova, when I select disjoint strings, the text formatting option applies only to the first selected substring. This makes complex text formatting very tedious because I have to sequentially select the substrings and apply the formatting commands. Please restore the previous ability of reformat multiple selected disjoint strings.

Thanks again for your outstanding work on improving TBird!

I am using Thunderbird 115.12.1 (64 bit) on Windows 10 with the email account set up as POP3 for the Gmail account

I have a subfolder under an Inbox (Gmail account) that is no longer showing up. If I search for an email address from a sender that was in the folder, I get a list of emails showing the dates and subject, but if I click on the email, the tab that opens is blank.

My PC crashed, but I can't say for sure when the folder disappeared, other than I know it was there 4 days ago. It the the only subfolder that is missing.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Device: Desktop computer - Win 7 Pro Email client: Thunderbird Version 102.13 Server: POP settings

I am a Cox email user and was recently migrated to Yahoo. After I input the correct server settings on the Thunderbird app, each time I click on the Get Message button, It starts downloading all (100K+) the email messages in my Yahoo inbox, including the ones that were already downloaded on my computer from the Cox server. Are there certain settings in Thunderbird that will stop this issue and just let me download new messages? TIA -Craig

It seems as the interface thinks the window containing Thunderbird is longer than it actually is. The bottom part of the interface is missing and there's no scroll bar. This is most apparent to me in the Address book, where part of the fields is invisible, as are the Cancel/Save buttons. When I start Thunderbird, that bottom part of the interface would appear for about a second and then disappear. Resizing the window doesn't help.

When I start Thunderbird in Troubleshooting mode, the interface works fine, but "Reset toolbars and controls" and "Disable all add-ons" doesn't fixt the issue.

It might have started when I connected a secondary monitor, positioned above the primary. I thought disconnecting that monitor fixed it, but I since reconnected it and the issue now won't go away except when in Troubleshoot Mode.
