Win XP, FF 9.0.1-- Open Library Window, Click "Import and..." Tab, which opens the Import Wizard. Select "Internet Explorer", then "Next" Button, then nothing happens. The next pane of the Wizard ("Items to Import") doesn't open, nothing.

The only odd thing that had happened was that during the initial run of FF, when it connects to the Mozilla site, I lost my (dialup) Internet connection and didn't complete that initial contact. Bookmarks, etc seem to work, I just can't import from the old browser.

Ah, I'd forgotten about the IE "Export" function. Did it and it works like a charm. Now the real work begins-- I've become a Bookmark Packrat and I need to do housecleaning...

Thanks,

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
