You are infected.Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

It is not the infection that is the problem. Unless this is the result of it. The main issue is that it keeps me from going online to find things to fix it.  :) Hyperlinks are appreciated, but I need to find a way to use them first.

Some of this type of malware will not allow you to go to sites for help. You will need to go to an uninfected computer to read/print the help article below and to download the necessary files to disinfect your system. Transport the downloaded files to your system on a non-rewritable CD/DVD to avoid infection of the CD/DVD. Avoid the use a thumb/USB/pin/jump drive to transport the downloaded files to your infected system, you run the risk of infecting that device and spreading the infection to any computer that you use it on in the future.

  • Main article: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-security-2012
    • In that article, it says: "While running, Win 7 Security 2012 will also hijack Internet Explorer and Firefox so that you cannot visit certain sites. It does this so that you cannot receive help or information at sites like BleepingComputer.com on how to remove this infection. When you attempt to visit these sites you will instead be shown a fake alert stating that the site you are visiting is dangerous and that the rogue is blocking it for your protection."
  • Carefully follow the instructions in the article and download all of the tools suggested.
