My browser display ads in new window

Even though I have blocked the ads in the privacy settings, My browser automatically displays ads in new window. I have re installed the browser so may times but nothing resolved my issue. Kindly suggest some thing to resolve it. Thanks in advance.

I have tried it but it didnt, work out. Even I used the power eraser tool of my Norton. I have enclosed the screen shot of the latest one.

Hi, are you sure they are not ads coming from the site since they do know you are there using Firefox. Yes it is hard to block those if it is a sites. uBlock Origin has a Element Picker but I have not found it that useful.

I just gave you those 2 but there are more can try :

Hi PkShadow,

The the location bar with the Site Info Site Info i button. So Pop up is coming from fire fox only (Refer: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-troubleshooting#w_is-the-pop-up-coming-from-firefox).

While working with Firefox in my other system there is no pop up ad and everything is fine.

I have removed the firefox and reinstalled it again but it didnt resolved it.

I think  I should remove entire files and folders related with my firefox browser in app data. then freshly download the firefox again. But the problem is, If I removed the entire folders I may lose the Passwords I have stored  in it. Any advice regarding this.

Could be. Without seeing what extensions your using as just told another person that Extension was not approved for use .

If is your Profile :

You can copy files like below with Firefox closed to the current profile folder to recover specific data.

What's What in the Profile :

  • bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
  • bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
  • cookies.sqlite for the Cookies
  • formhistory.sqlite for saved autocomplete Form Data
  • logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
  • if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db
  • cert9.db (58+) or cert8.db (57 and older) for (intermediate) certificates stored in the Certificate Manager
  • if you only have cert8.db then make sure to remove an existing cert9.db
  • persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary
  • permissions.sqlite for Permissions and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for other website specific data (Site Preferences)
  • sessionstore.jsonlz4 for open tabs and pinned tabs (see also the sessionstore-backups folder)
