Im using Firefox desktop version 113 with win 7 Browser will not save logins or passwords either saved by me manually or by importing from chrome.

Below you will see the screen from my settings after saving. Strangely, I do get the prompt to save them. See other image below.

I do not want to use sync. I only want firefox to store this locally as the earlier versions did without any issues.

Thanks

Can you use "Create New Login" or does this fail as well ?

Try to rename/remove logins.json (encrypted logins) and key4.db (encryption key) in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case there is a problem with the files that store the logins.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

It still wont save. I removed the logins.json and key4.db. The logins.json did NOT regenerate itself.

When I tried to manually Create New Login as you suggested, firefox froze when I clicked SAVE. But it would not save. I closed and reopened, tried again. Froze again.

I tried to place an empty file named logins.json back in the directory and retried. It still froze up.

Not sure whats next to try. BTW there is also a key3.db file. I tried removing it too. Nothing I tried works.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works, you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

TY for the help. Creating a new profile solved the issues. Then I was able to import and create logins/passwords. And they save this time.
