Used to be able to go to "search" in upper right and get back to Google home page. Have tried twice to change settings (otherwise I end up at Yahoo...WTF??) and it's not working. What have you changed? Why have you changed it? Most importantly, how do I get my settings back???

See this support article to learn about the new Search Bar in Firefox 34. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-bar-add-change-manage-search-engines-firefox

If you prefer the old Search Bar scheme, you can revert to that. Open up about:config (typed in the Location Bar) Right-click and toggle this preference to false

browser.search.showOneOffButtons

Then restart Firefox.

Went to "Change search settings". Google is set as my default, yet still doesn't appear in the "Search box" when I try to move from gmail back to Google home page.

Also tried opening up "about:config" (BTW: my Mac doesn't "right-click); typed in preferences; double-clicked "false" which changed it to "true"; and rebooted my computer. Re-opened Firefox, when to gmail, and STILL couldn't get to Google home page directly. Only way is to edit "https://" bar info. To do this on a regular basis is nuts.

What am I missing?
