Today when I started Thunderbird two of my email accounts are Highlighted in RED with a RED Triangle at the end of the email address.

Both accounts are from Spectrum. My other email accounts from another provider are OKAY.

I am not able to retrieve or send emails on these two accounts. I can get my emails from both accounts when I use Spectrum Webmail. So it looks like the account information is correct.

How do I fix this?

Hi, I use my Thunderbird installation as a feed reader for RSS. Unfortunately, there are two feeds which aren't updated any more. I can't find an error. The feed is OK, I checked the XML file - the new entries are in the feed. The same feed works with a different feed reader. I already deleted the feed and added it again to Thunderbird. When I execute "right click -> Get Messages" on the feed, nothing happens. No error message... What can I do to find the error?

I'm running Fedora Linux 43, Workstation Edition; Thunderbird 140.10.2esr from Flathub. Everything's up to date.

I am using the "Provider for Google Calendar" add-on to connect to the google calendar. The author of that add-on says the problem is with Thunderbird since he is using the provided API.

Please add an option to make calendar reminder actions local.

Subject: Persistent Column and Folder Layout Issues — Not Being Saved Between Sessions

This is a follow-up to my previous support requests regarding two ongoing problems that significantly impact daily usability.

Column Settings I manage multiple accounts, and my preferred column layout is: Starred, Read Status, Attachment, Subject, From, and Date/Time. I do not use Threads, Correspondents, or Spam Status columns. Despite setting these preferences repeatedly, Thunderbird fails to retain them. Every day I must spend time reconfiguring columns across some or all of my accounts — the state varies unpredictably from one session to the next. This is a persistent, daily frustration that costs meaningful time. Most other major email clients save and reliably maintain column preferences. I'd expect Thunderbird to do the same.

Folder Panel Layout Two problems occur regularly when Thunderbird loads:

Folder order — Standard system folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, All Mail, Trash, Spam) should appear at the top of each account. Instead, Sent, All Mail, Trash, and/or Spam are frequently scattered among custom folders, with no apparent consistency.

Folder expansion — Most or all folders load in an expanded state, exposing every nested sub-folder regardless of whether they contain unread mail. This creates unnecessary visual clutter and requires manual collapsing each session.

Again, this behavior is uncommon in other widely-used email clients. Summary These are not one-time glitches — they recur daily and represent a significant usability gap. I'd appreciate confirmation that these are known issues being tracked, or guidance on a reliable fix. Reformatting the interface every morning is not a reasonable expectation for users.

In event creation in Calendar the options for repeat pattern are daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or yearly. There is an option to create a custom pattern, but if I enter every 28 days, because I want the event to recur every four weeks, it is over-ridden by the option above which is the repeat pattern, daily, weekly etc and the event appears daily. There appears to be no way to create an event that occurs repeatedly every four weeks (28days)?

The newest version of Thunderbird wiped out the stored files from the previous version by making me create a new identity. I have tried several times to use "import" to retrieve backed up data from the old version, but without success, even after I re-installed an earlier version of Thunderbird. Each time I use the "import" feature I get a message that it failed unexpectedly. I need these old e-mails because they contain receipts for charitable donations that I need because my tax returns are being audited. What can I do?

I use Thunderbird on dark mode, so by default, unformatted text (where I haven't explicitly set text color) appears as white text on a black background in my compose window. The same unformatted text, when sent to someone viewing it in light mode, appears as black on white to them and remains readable. When I use white text in my compose window, it looks identical to me, but remains white when sent and is thus unreadable white-on-white to those using light mode. Is there something in the composition window that indicates whether I'm typing with formatted or unformatted text? (No, the color selector tool does not do this. When typing unformatted text, it displays the last selected colors, regardless of whether they are being used.)

If there's no way to distinguish this, could someone please add a UI element for it?

Everything working just fine last night. Wake up and Thunderbird will not retrieve emails.

Remembered this old message I got so I went through and deleted my second email address, didn't help.

Checked all settings compared to Yahoo, still won't download messages. I can even send a message with my current settings no problem, and it does login, just won't retrieve emails. Gives me a connection timeout.

Anyone have any ideas?

After a recent update to Thunderbird (months ago), I found that when I search through my emails by name, it will find those emails and list them for me. But when I go and click on one of those found emails, it arbitrarily brings up some unrelated email - it never brings up the one that I click on.

I have used Thunderbird (Windows 11 PC) as my email application with my Road Runner / Time Warner / Spectrum email account for over 20 years. As recently as a week ago I could send emails. Now sending fails with this message - "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.twc.com timed out. Try again.". No problem receiving emails in Thunderbird. I can send emails if I log into Spectrum.net in a browser and I can send emails from my Android phone. All server settings did not change and match those that the Spectrum web site says to use. Thunderbird is up to date - 140.11.1esr (64-bit). Windows is also up to date. Spectrum tech support was no help. Thanks

Why are many calendar events just disappearing? This has been happening for the last three months!! Calendar events were there yesterday, are gone today! I tried in protected mode and lost even more events. Now even more are missing. Several I have re-input over the last months, and they get gone too. What’s going on!! There are no addons, no sync. Nothing but Thunderbird. any one else having this bug?? What file are events stored in and how do I read them?? Any way to recover anyof these?? There is a lot of information and annotations, such as cancellations and rescheduleing and the whole bunch just disappeared? Many older events are still intact but I sure don't know for how long!!! My profile is on a separate drive and is accesed by both W10 and 11 for email and calendar. No problems except they are missing using either system!! It's a bug!! Anyone interested in looking at it?? Yes the incoming and outgoing mail server info gibes with my ISP (Shaw) - added pix

Yes have done the necessary adjustments to Windows Defender and Firewall.

Yes I have increased mail.news.tcptimeout because occasionally have received message that "Outgoing server

  • SMTP" mail.shaw.ca timed out. Try again. Yes I have indeed tried again.

Yes I have called Shaw and they will not offer any suggestions because TB is a third-party.

What's left to try? A version reversion? Thunderbird has been so stable for so long. I even considered Betterbird but it uses the same profile so............

Thunderbird 148+ on Windows 11 repeatedly prompts for the password when synchronizing an Exchange account (professional) configured with the native Exchange support (no add-on installed).

The account only offers “NTLM” or “Normal password” authentication methods. OAuth2 is not available in the account settings.

During synchronization, Thunderbird asks for the password separately for many folders. However, clicking “Retry” usually works immediately without changing the password, and manually re-entering the same password also works.

The issue then reappears for the next folder, causing continuous authentication prompts (I have many folders...).

Actions already tested:

  • deleting saved passwords and tokens,
  • deleting/renaming key4.db and logins.json,
  • restarting Thunderbird,
  • recreating the account.

The problem persists.

This looks like an authentication/session handling issue rather than an actual invalid password.
