I'm using the latest version of Firefox (89.0) on both of my Windows 7 computers as well as on my iPhone. I have this really annoying glitch where I'll bookmark a page, and Firefox will occasionally duplicate that bookmark hundreds of times. I've gone in and deleted the duplicates, but then the problem re-occurs, so I'm trying to figure out how to finally fix this! I've already spent several hours looking through your help forums and trying to fix it, but nothing seems to work. Here's what I've done:

I turned off sync on all my devices. I also noticed that I had the iCloud synch extension on one of my computers, so I removed that, since I read that might cause some issues. Then I went and cleaned up the bookmarks on one of my computers, deleting all the duplicate entries, and I exported an HTML version of my bookmarks to my computer and also created a backup .json file. I refreshed Firefox on that computer. And I changed my sync password, since I read somewhere that that would supposedly force my old data to be deleted from Firefox's server.

Then I turned sync back on on that one computer, hoping that the latest version of my bookmarks that were on that computer would now update to Firefox's server. But instead of replacing the old bookmarks file in the cloud, it simply added back the old duplicate bookmarks to my computer (which apparently never got deleted from Firefox servers, despite the password change). Super frustrating. Isn't there a way to force a one-way sync, so the version of the bookmarks file that I have locally -- which has the latest changes -- takes priority??

I then tried going to "Import bookmarks from HTML," hoping that the version I had previously saved would replace this bad, outdated version I had downloaded from the server, but that didn't seem to do anything (I guess import only adds new bookmarks but doesn't delete existing bookmarks?). Could I import the json file instead? If so, how do I do that? I've considered deleting all my bookmarks and then importing the html file again to see if that fixes it, but it looks like the html file doesn't include the bookmarks on my toolbar. Is that correct? If so, I don't want to lose them.

Not sure what this is so glitchy and so difficult to fix. Can someone please help?

With the annoying new Update from FF89 is besides everything almost 1 color (what can be fixed by changing the protons to false) The bookmarks are only outlined Very annoying and harder to see!!! how can i change it to filled again?.. can not find it in about:config

I used to have the bookmarks sidebar open whenever I open Firefox. Now Firefox always opens without the sidebar. I have to click on the sidebar icon every time I want to open the sidebar. The sidebar stays open when I open new tabs. But when I close then open Firefox, the sidebar is not there. Must be a change with one of the updates. Is there a way to set the sidebar to always open when opening Firefox? Maybe in about:config?

I'm posting this again because I really need help! Also because I'm afraid I messed something up by replying to my own question. But I kept getting the "A copy of Firefox is already open" error, so I deleted one of the two profiles that I found. Apparently I chose the wrong one, and now all of my bookmarks are gone. I DID click something that said NOT to remove all my information (bookmarks, etc) so there must be a way to get it back, but how? I really only care about the bookmarks. Also want to mention that I'm on Mac, not Windows. I tried something called Recuva but I can't run .exe files on my Mac.

This weird! when I export my current bookmarks to html to a thumb drive, Firefox exports and old list, not the current list! I can add a bookmark, export the list, the new bookmark shows, but the list is not the current bookmarks. this new list contains bookmarks that I had deleted, and are not in my current bookmarks!

Been with Firefox a long time with no problems. Recent update of Firefox. Now cannot login to SKY a/c on FF. Only SKY, all other links on tool bar work, only SKY is access denied. Contacted SKY team, helpful, line / router all OK. No VPN active. Have deleted SKY link, cache, history, cookies etc and reinstalled - same issue. SKY login works on Edge though, or, via e-m client. Problem is solely with SKY log in and solely Firefox. SKY unable to find an issue. Message is Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://skyid.sky.com/signin/7b613a2768747470733a2f2f7777772e736b792e636f6d2f272c623a2768747470733a2f..." on this server. Which is Error 288 Any thoughts?

How can I put bookmarks in the toolbar at the top where it used to be? When I bookmark to the toolbar I can omly find them by clicking Bookmarks and clicking on toolbar in the drop down.

My old laptop's motherboard crashed. I was using Firefox. I have the old hard drive. How do I get the old Firefox Bookmarks, etc. to my new Firefox? Where/ what folder is this located? What do I cut/ paste?

A 2nd shortcut version to my credit card website has appeared spontaneously when I open Firefox. I have not clicked it, and I am unable to delete it. In the attached pic, the problem icon is titled "secure01a.chase. How did it get there and how can I remove it?

I used to be able until very recently go to MENU > LIBRARY>Bookmarks: which would 'split' giving me three (?) choices, one of which was showing a bookmark side bar. I seem to not have that choice any longer ... or do I and I just don't know how to select it? Thank you.

The scrolling functionality in Firefox on my mouse has suddenly stopped working - please help. Does not scroll down the bookmarks pane. Webpage scroll bar on right of screen won't work with my mouse, must be dragged down or up the page using cursor.

Good afternoon. My Firefox has been updated to the new version but I noticed that the font size in my bookmarks dropdown menu has increased. I would prefer to make it smaller as it used to all fit in one column without the need to scroll. Could someone tell me how, or if this can be done with the new version? Hello, I accidentally removed my "save bookmark" star (that turns blue when a page is saved) in the address bar. I know there are other ways to save a bookmark but I want it restored as it was. What should I do for that? Thank you.
