Ark extracted Version 119 files into /home/Downloads/Firefox/Firefox. I tried ./update from the BASH command line, but didn't know which argument(s) to add to that command. I'm hoping to update Firefox 78.14 ESR to a recent version, whether ESR or not. Thanks for your help.

I play a game at Vegas World. It's basically a free online slot machine site. I have played it for years with Chrome. Recently switched to Firefox. Playing an auto spin slot game, Firefox gets slow and hangs after about 25 spins. Chrome will go for 10,000 spins. So, Firefox is useless on game sites. I don't really expect a fix or solution. And I don't actually expect to use Firefox by the end of the day.

I have a Firefox account in order to use the sync capabilities. After a sync between desktop and phone the desktop bookmarks are on my phone in an extra folder "desktop bookmarks" and vice versa the phone bookmarks are in folder "Mobile bookmarks" in my desktop Firefox. Is this normal behaviour? I would expect them in one common folder to have a seamless synching.

Best regards, Walter

Starting recently the firefox popups for website notifications are stealing focus and disturbing my workflow. I'm using i3 window manager and normally popups would have some id or class that can be used to latch on and prevent the focus stealing but the windows created now do not have any such marker.

I've been using Chrome for a long time, and I've been slowly switching over all my bookmarks, passwords, etc to Firefox. I'm running Linux mint for context.

Every time I open Firefox, it opens the home tab, and after a second or two it opens Mozilla Rally in a new tab, and it drives me ABSOLUTELY BONKERS, because I get halfway through typing in a website, and I'm redirected to this new tab I care nothing about, and for some reason cannot get rid of it in the minimal startup settings that actually exist.

That's some straight up Microsoft Internet Explorer sh!t there, and yes that was meant as an insult.

I have not been able to find any reference or any way to make that not happen, and it is seriously making me consider abandoning Firefox entirely. Don't make me go back to Chrome.

Please help.

After I sign in on a Stackexchange affiliated website on Google chrome, I can then visit any other Stackexchange affiliated websites and I do not need to manually sign in. Google Chrome recognizes that I'm signed in on an SE affiliate and therefore, I'm presented a prompt that asks if I want to either: cancel the automatic sign in or join the community if I've never signed in before.

How can I do this on Firefox? Also, I would like to know how to do this because it creates a complicated situation when I need to suggest to a newer user that they should ask their question on a different affiliate. I mean, it seems kind of sketchy to tell someone to "create a new account but make sure to use the same username and password". Like, that's how password stealing scams work.

But with Google Chrome, it recognizes that SE sites are affiliated and so the username and password (or the cookie for the logged in session or whatever it is) is automatically and securely submitted to the other SE site without user input. There's less confusion and an extra layer of automatic verification that the user doesn't have to worry about. This follows the basic security practice of never submitting credentials after you're already signed in on Facebook or any other social media site — if you are already signed in to your account and you are requested to "sign in to facebook to continue" for example on another site or when opening a link, it should automatically sign you in when you refresh the page. If not, then it's likely a spoofed sign in dialog or cloned web page trying to steal your password.

At the very least, it should autofill if it is a legit sign in dialog. But Firefox does not do this on SE affiliated websites and we basically have to create individual accounts, with the same username and password, on each SE website. I literally have to click to create a new account or sign in, go through my settings, copy my saved password from another SE site and submit that with my email.

Lastly, this also applies to SE affiliates that don't have "stackexchange" in the URL such as Superuser and AskUbuntu. I can sign in on AskUbuntu and then when I go to Math Stackexchange or Superuser, I'm automatically signed in.

In the screenshots, you can see how there is the option to "join this community" when using Google Chrome. This option doesn't exist when using Firefox. After joining, there's an additional confirmation prompt that explains about automatic sign in, which also does not happen on Firefox.

The video from most websites plays out of sequence. It appears that approximately every one second plays its frames in reverse order. This occurs with most video streaming services and major sites. For example, all Amazon, Sam's Club, Walmart and other website product videos. Occasionally, Amazon product videos just say not compatible. However, YouTube videos with very rare excepts play fine in Firefox. Those problem sites play the videos fine under Edge for Linux. But, I would much rather use Firefox. I'm sure this a codec related issue. Possibly related to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 video card in this computer running openSUSE 15.5. But after much searching, I'm at a loss on how to resolve the problem.

FF version Extended Support 115.70esr (64bit) I have set /General/Startup/"Open previous windows and tab" - FF does not restore. It worked as expect before I upgraded opsys (Opensuse15.4 to Opensuse15.5).

Please note: I AM NOT TRYING TO RECOVER FROM BEFORE THE UPGRADE! I am trying to get FF working normally (for me) with my usage and history SINCE the upgrade.

After reading https://support.mozilla.org/mk/questions/1407888 I believe I have tried everything there. FF sometimes restores one single historic tab, sometimes it comes with with one single tab opened to my default page.

1) "sessionstore.jsonlz4" did not exist in the main profile dir. (It does not because I followed instructions in the link above to copy it there and try again).

2) I do have a session file, found in sessionstore-backups dir , displayed with this recommended online converter/translater "https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html"; it shows the expected windows and tabs.

3) Starting after copying the "sess...jsoniz4" file into the main profile dir, I get one window with one tab displayed; I had about 4-5 windows and 15-20 tabs open when I last closed FF, although when doing research, I often have a 10-dozen windows with 100+ tabs.

4) The History menu does not show a "Restore..." option at all. In the window that did open with a historic tab, the History/RecentlyClosedTabs contains a list of plausible sites, about 10, which may be correct for that window. But there were certainly many that were actually open at the time I shut down FF and the window has only opened one.

Thank you for any help here. Rufus
