after the new version of firefox update my home page which i have always had Newsmax.com does not load says problem loading page i have tried several times and it will not load. it works in Google chrome so why not in Firefox

It is as if Firefox has disappeared from my desktop. I click on the shortcut but nothing happens. It was working fine last night. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling but still nothing. A window does not even appear.

Background: On August 6th morning EST after the August 5 2026 update, attempting to use firefox lead to the window with the "end process" button so I had to close the browser multiple times and then the next time I opened firefox, the bookmarks and history were wiped. I was able to restore using a backup saved on the computer and continue as normal (aside from losing some Cookie Clicker progress, reinstalling Tampermonkey userscripts, and redoing browser extension settings) but now there's an issue with trying to backup firefox data.

Issue: Trying to back up my firefox data leads to a "There was a problem backing up. Try again in a few minutes."

When going to about:config and typing browser.backup.backup-debug-info, I get {"lastBackupAttempt":1786243812,"errorCode":9,"lastRunStep":13}

When looking at Broswer Console, there is an entry saying BackupService: Could not create C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Restore Firefox\desktop.ini: NotAllowedError: Could not write to `C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Restore Firefox\desktop.ini': failed to open file for writing (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) BackupService.sys.mjs:4116:23 but I don't know how to address that.

Hello, I've been using Firefox for years, but last couple months or so - it's been losing Internet connection - I have to stop and restart it and all ok - somtimes for 5 mins - sometimes for 15 or so - but it's doing my head in :) Any help appreciated - Thanks

Title says it all, "auto resize pictures using CTRL - + does not work". Generally speaking, the size of pictures simply WILL NOT reduce in size to view its entirety. Even when the scroll-bars are used the picture is still to wide. I have searched and asked for any setting in about_config, NOTHING! I truly expected something. The ONLY STUPID WAY to view said oversize picture is Download it then view. Isn't that a HACKERS DREAM??? YES I HAVE tried looking in SETTINGS and searched for months, found nothing that actually works. So now I have to use that 4-LETTER word... HELP!

Hi, I'm having this problem on 2 PCs and I'm not sure what in the world is going on. It's not only this browser but I'm trying to get Firefox sorted.

When on sites like Walmart or Costco I'll be scrolling down, click on something, hit 'back'...and then it won't return me to where I left off.

I'm really at wits end. I don't know if I have viruses on both causing aberrant behavior.

If the internet were in it's infancy last century, this would be understandable...or again maybe I have two compromised machines. I'm on the Malwarebytes forum doing all kinds of things to no avail. Defender and Malwarebytes don't find anything.

I can't download some pdfs, notably my bank statements. I CAN download some pdfs. Eg, I can download my car manual (although it's a process of downloading it to my Google Drive). However, trying to download my bank statements, Firefox gives me no options at all, and, indeed, I get an error message. Yet I CAN download my bank statements using Google Chrome! I've carefully checked all my Firefox settings, but nothing seems to address this problem. I've spoken to my bank, and they don't know why I can't download them either. When I try to download the statements, I get a screen saying it can't give me a 'Preview' (see attached screenshot), but there's a 'Download button. When I click that I get a white screen with the 'error' message:

I have asked about this before on this forum, but to no avail.

I use Firefox in Windows 11, but when I close it and reopen it, my three open tabs are gone, it is supposed to open them, as checked in settings. I see the same thing happening in the MacOs, but no answers for Windows either.

Hello, i recently upgraded from a 4k monitor to a dual 4k ultrawide monitor, and have been having visual issues specifically on firefox and no other applications. when firefox is out of focus and i have a different window selected, the text in the firefox window becomes blurry

I thought I was updating firefox today but the process lost the order of my book marks and makes them extremely hard to find. Some I used several times a day with one click. Now it takes me five clicks just to get to them and then a search. The old system worked perfectly for my purposes. Is there anyway to get back the old bookmarks tab and my old bookmarks in relatively decent order? The text promised me all my bookmarks,etc. I never would had clicked refresh if I had any idea this would be the outcome.

Not 100% sure if the topic is the right one, but here we go - I use a Macbook with Firefox 153.0.3, UK Keyboard (QWERTY) It's about the command + ` (the key in the left upper corner below the esc key, I made the ` bold so it's easier to see)

Sometimes, but only sometimes, the keyboard shortcut command + ` to cycle through open windows in Firefox does not work.

For example, I have two windows open (W1 and W2). If I'm in W1 I can use the command and it will cycle to W2. But using the same shortcut, I can't navigate back to W1. But if I use command+ SHIFT+ ` it works. This changes from day to day, sometimes it's command +` and sometimes it's command+ shift+`

This only affects Firefox, in all other programmes, the shortcut works as it should Can't find rhyme or reason- does anyone have an idea?

This is not a huge issue but it is irksome. Why do the all the bookmarks in the toolbar justify left? Also, there are no UI options in the settings to change the justification. Most browsers center all the bookmarks in the toolbars. Surely this wouldn't be too hard to change, would it?

It seems to be related to video playback but not sure. It was happening while a video was playing full screen, and also after stopping playing/hiding a non-full-screen video.

To catch the issue had to screen record at 240fps. I used Nvidia Overlay to record the issue, but was happening before the overlay was even enabled.

Disabled all addons, made no difference. HW acceleration on or off, still happened.

Previously all my tabs would launch when I opened Firefox. Recently it has stopped doing so. Only one tab opens. All the other tabs I use frequently do not open. Why is this? How do I have all my tabs open when I open Firefox

HI All Recently purchased a laptop and want to have FF sync with my desk top. I am signed in to both devices with the same account and have checked all settings on both and they are identical. Why are they not syncing?

For the past few weeks, I have been having problems playing certain Facebook videos. It seems to only happen when I try to play a video that was recorded live. I have tried clearing the cache, I've tried a private window, and I've tried safe mode. I still can't get the video to play. However, when I copy and paste the url to Safari, it works fine. I have been able to play "live" videos while they are actually "live"; it's just that they will not load when I try to play them later. I don't have any problems playing videos which have been uploaded to Facebook; only those which were recorded live. The videos just show a circle in the middle as if they are trying to load but nothing else happens. The length of the video does not matter; it happens with short videos as well as long ones. The screenshot image (of a random "live" video I found) I am uploading shows a partial black circle in the center, which is a spinning circle in realtime. I have circled it in red.

After reinstalling Firefox due to it being slow, no matter what settings, Firefox always opens and focuses on a new unwanted tab. But only if there are no extra tabs open except for my 5 pinned ones.

This behaviour started before I installed any Extensions.

How can I stop this?

Playback works correctly usually, but if I jump forward or backwards in time it sometimes never loads. This also completely bricks the whole brower, all other tabs etc, until I close firefox and restart it. This happens on all vods of twitch, and also livestreams where I am able to rewind (subscriber function). Using your browser for first time today using two popular websites that are used daily (theglobeandmail.com and theweathernetwork.com) that Malwarebytes deemed these unsafe quoting 192.178.192.132.443 - they are now blocked and don't understand why these websites would have any problems.
