I have Firefox set to ask me where to download files that I want to download. It works for normal download links, but when I'm using my credit card company site's PDF viewer to look at a statement and I click on the download icon or link in the upper-left, it simply downloads the PDF (to my chosen "Save files to" folder in Settings). Is there a current way to change this behavior? Is this something that the website's code determines, overriding my Firefox setting?

I've recently switched back to Firefox from Edge and have run into a frustrating issue.

When I try to print documents from Firefox, the "Color Mode" in the print settings is grayed out so I can't select B&W.

This same problem exists both on my MacOS laptop + my Windows 11 desktop. Additionally, they are connected to different printers on different networks. It also occurs whether I'm trying to print a PDF or anything else in Firefox.

Based on this, it appears Firefox is the culprit here.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Every day when I sign in to Firefox I receive this email message, and I don't know why. I have been signing into Firefox for a few years. I don't remember when this started and I'm not sure if this is just your way of authenticating that I am me or not. Please explain this email I receive from accounts@firefox.com. I have changed my password many times so that can't be it, at least I don't think that's it.

Thank you for your help Rhonda

It has recently come to my attention that Mozilla may not continue to support Firefox browsers installed on Windows 7 computers after Jan. 2023, when the extended support for Windows 7 ends. Is that correct?

Will Firefox continue to work, but not receive security updates after that date?

Will Firefox still work on a Windows 7 computer that gets patches from 0Patch?

Thanks!

I have already tried the troubleshooting steps from here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can, Still no luck! Note:Whenever i switch to mobile hot spot i have to restart laptop to make Firefox work.

Is there any permanent solution for this problem?

Hey all,

I have a very weird problem after yesterday.

So I was on Youtube and I pressed the search button and a pop-up came from Firefox. I don't know anymore what it was and I just clicked on something. After that my Youtube search button is't working anymore when I click it with my mouse. When I enter a text and press my enter button it still works.

When I go to another browser or use Firefox Incognito mode it also works. When I log out of my account, it works. When I use a new profile it works.

So I installed Firefox and reinstalled it again. Installed my add-ons again and tested it again. And it worked again. But from the moment when I logon on Youtube website with Firefox it DOESN'T work anymore.

This simply drives me crazy lol. So it works on 99% of the time only when I use Firefox on my account even with a new profile my search button doesn't work again.

Could this be a Firefox setting within the Youtube website or a Firefox permission thing which isn't carried over from a new profile?

I don't know how on earth I could fix this issue and I'm hoping someone here could help me with the setting inside Firefox that could make my Youtube search button work again on my left mouse click.

Thanks in advance.

When Firefox asks if I want to download an update and I agree, soon after that but not right away it stops working - on every new page it says "We need to restart to finish updating" <- This last bit is VERY annoying. Is there a way to keep FF working in such situation? I usually have 3 FF profiles running, about 10-20 tabs each and when it suddenly does this - I can restart them all but when it is suitable for me.

The only solution I can see so far is disabling updates via group policies (which is not well documented, where do i put this policies.json on Fedora? need to google that).

Any other ways to keep updates and FF running until I decide when to restart? Thanks.

Hi I'm running into an issue where I'm trying to save files while retaining their original filenames, but '%' characters are changed into an underscore when I try to save it. I've tested this with Google Chrome but it doesn't run into this issue. Is there a setting or workaround so that Firefox will leave the filenames alone?

Fine, thank you for telling me but now how do I seeing the same warning every time I start Firefox? The file in question does not exist on my computer so far as I can tell and I did a thorough search through 3.5tB of storage on the machine to make sure. How do I stop this warning?

When selecting "Open in Firefox" in the "What do you want to do with this file?" box or on about:preferences and then opening a PDF file on the web, instead of downloading the file to RAM and opening it with its online address, Firefox downloads the PDF to /tmp/mozilla_${USER}0 and opens it from there. This also adds it to the download history. I have set the about:config flag browser.download.start_downloads_in_tmp_dir to true so the files I just open and don't want to permanently download don't clutter my $HOME/Hämtningar (downloads) folder. I tried to first prevent that by selecting the default action to do when tasked to open a PDF, but that didn't fix it, so I set the about:config flag. Unfortunately, setting the default action stopped Firefox from opening a PDF inline without downloading it and I cannot find any option along the lines of "Preview in Firefox" (as described in this support article ).

I recently had hard drive problems and during the ensuing melee, I discovered that Firefox has stored well over 100k files with the general name {xxx...}.final. Being the curious sort--and given that these boogers are taking up almost 1Gb--I looked at a few and they appear to be related to websites that I visited. I can see keeping some recent things around, but some of this goes back, literally, to the day I bought my PC. Um...that's a lot of files and a lot of space for places I visited once and will never go to again. Some of the websites no longer exist, so obviously those files are wasted space.

I am unable to find much about this on the web, either via Google or the help here. A few people have brought it up, but no one seems to know what to do. The help here goes nuts with the search term "final" and brings up a plethora of hits containing "finally" and so forth, but nothing useful. "}.final" isn't much help, either.

The path is C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile name>\storage\default

Questions: 1) Can some or all of this be deleted? 2) Is there a way to tell Firefox not to be so anal about keeping so many useless things?

Given the sheer quantity of these things, it would make future backup/restores easier if I could trim some of the fat, but I don't want to mess things up, either.

Thanks...

Using Firefox 100.0.1. Debian Linux. Dell 1525 with 4G ram.

When playing a certain mp3 file in the browser, if I use the arrow keys, or the mouse, to skip forward or back, there is no response, but the audio stops playing for a period of time, then, finally it starts playing again at the spot it was before.

This does not happen with this file in Chrome, or in VLC. Also, with other mp3s it does not happen in Firefox.

I finally got it to work by converting the file to ogg vorbis, but this is not something I want to make a practice of..

I imported the file back into Audacity, and re-exported it as an mp3. Same result.

Weird... Any ideas?

Thanks,
