I was advised to use the Authenticator.cc extension for my Firefox browser on Windows 10 PC, I can't get it to run. It downloads but will not then do anything. I can't get the icon into the menu bar, I can't scan a QR code, it just will not perform. Why not?

I have recently been getting an error message when I open Firefox saying "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem". This has been happening since I clicked on a mail in Mail to unsubscribe from a spam/phishing mail list, which seemed to result in me installing Firefox Private Browsing, which I had never subscribed to. I have tried uninstalling Private Browsing but there is no way of doing that. I have even uninstalled and then re-installed Firefox completely but I still have the same problem. Because of the problem I have now lost all my bookmarks and history, and am unable to create new bookmarks and history. I have been on the help forums and seen that I can Disable Private Browsing by going through my anti-virus (Avast), which I have not yet tried because what I would really like to achieve is uninstalling and not having Private Browsing on my Start menu, rather than simply disabling it. Anyway, would disabling it solve the bookmarks and history problem ? Can anyone give me the solution ? Thanks. As you may gather, I am not very techno so you would have to give me the idiot's version of any instructions or advice.

I often run into issues with PDFs in Firefox Linux. They either appear totally blank (typically after suspend/restore), or they appear with the desktop background showing through (as in the attached screenshot).

Hard refreshing the page doesn't change anything, opening a new tab and opening the PDF again doesn't change anything, opening a new window and loading the PDF doesn't change anything.

It renders correctly in Chromium.

A problem has arisen with firefox recently: when I tried to google something, or to open a website, I get the message: Oh no, the tab has gone down. I have reinstalled firefox but that didn't fix the problem.

I was injured and in the hospital a long period. my phone number was changed by my daughter from [telephone number] to [telephone number] my email changed because cable one closed all their accounts. It now is [email address]. Now I cannot log into my facebook account no matter what I do. It is the way I get in touch with my friends and relatives. What happened to my account? Been searching. Updated firefox and lost passwords (across MacBook and iMac Firefox versions) so googled, went looking for logins.json etc files. No sign of them, and no firefox folder in applicationsupport/library on my Mac. Showing hidden files. About:profiles shows only one profile. No idea how I can restore things. Time Machine backup on desktop iMac has no firefox profile files. Where is the data please? Etc etc :O)

Firefox uses about half a gig on my disk, that's: '~/.mozilla' and '~/.cache/mozilla' can that be reduced? Either some setting that limits disk use or even a manual deletion of ancient stuff?

I have just upgraded the OS on Mac Mini with the M1 chip to Sonoma (14.5) I am running Firefox 126.0.

Now it seems that I have more than one problem since the upgrade. The browsing history in my sidebar is not current. It is running about a day behind.

I reported earlier that the type on my LinkedIn is only out 7 pt when my settings have the minimum size at 14 pt.

Somebody please help. I'm afraid to do a refresh because I don't know what it will do to my banking settings.

Just today, I can no longer access the Amazon website. The pages load halfway and then it just churns/spins and never completes loading the page. So far I've discovered no other websites that have the same problem.

I am able to access the Amazon website on three other browsers - Edge, Brave and DuckDuckGo - with no problems and normal loading speed. I don't use Chrome, so I can't speak to that.

I've tried clearing the cache and that did not help. I had a Firefox update installed a couple of days ago. Don't know how long it had been sitting there, as Firefox is almost always open and doesn't have the opportunity to update until I close everything and restart my computer, which I did a couple of days ago.

Windows 10 on a Dell pc/laptop. Firefox Version 126.0 (64-bit).

Any ideas on how to fix?

I can access this website from other computers on my same network. But from my computer I get the following message
