79.0 (64 bits) Mozilla Firefox for Fedora fedora-1.0

I turned on dark mode and was disappointed that the only thing that turned dark was the tab bar. I googled and people suggest Dark Reader. I have that on. Is this the correct way to get dark reading in Firefox with 79?

Here is a way to reliably reproduce the white flash. Open gmail. On the left open a chat that has a photo in it. Click on the photo to open it in another tab of its own. There will be a white flash when the tab with the photo opens.

-- original use case, not reliably reproducible -- Now I hit '+' on the tab bar and get a new tab. In the browser dialog I type, say, 'time in New York' then there is a bright white flash like I am getting my picture taken. After this I make an appointment with my ophthalmologist and find I have retina damage. If I repeat this procedure it does not do it a second time. I go to another tab, return to the google search results for time in New York, and hit refresh, the it flashes again. I hit refresh a second time and it does not flash. So there are sporadic unpredictable white flashes.

How do you turn off the damage your eyes white flash feature? Where is that setting, surely I am missing it somewhere. I am curious as to why this problem has persisted for so many years, why is it so hard to fix.
