I got the download for the official 1.1 update from ZTE. I have followed the instructions, but when the phone rebooted it goes to a blank screen after playing the firefox boot animation. I let it sit there for about 10 min and it wouldn't respond. Finally had to pull the battery.

I tried the md5 check, and I get the following error:

Finding file_list package... Opening file_list package... Verifying file_list package... E:failed to open /system/etc/verify.zip (No such file or directory) E:signature verification failed

I tried to reinstall the update and got this:

-- Install /sdcard... Finding update package... Opening update package... Verifying update package... E:failed to verify whole-file signature E:signature verification failed Installation aborted.

Is there a way to restore my phone? I've been searching the internet and I keep getting linked back to the ZTE Open site, but the old images seem to have been removed.

Right now, when I boot the phone I get the FireFox OS logo, then the fox animation, then I get a quick bright flash of white before the screen goes out.

If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Update.

I contacted the ZTE ebay store and for about 2 weeks, went back and forth with things to try. Nothing helped, and they eventually had me send the phone back, and sent me a replacement.

The new phone is still the old version of the OS, but at least it works.

Hello,

Same problem. Mozilla Foundation should ask to ZTE a "pack" of the base firmware in the form of "TPT" files to make possible to recovery any "bricked?" terminal through the FTM mode.

There are problems with the official ZTE 1.1 version update and Mozilla Foundation must require ZTE collaboration before than ZTE left appart this terminal.

I have ask support to ZTE but i don't think that they resolve my problem.

It is frutrating: first try of the plataform and the terminal goes out in less than a week...

Igg2, thanks for the reply. Glad to know I'm not the only person with the problem.

I called ZTE Support and they had me try the "wipe user data/factory reset" option in recovery mode, but it didn't help.

I use Net10 for service, and ZTE told me to contact Net10. I didn't get my phone from Net10, though. I got it from the ZTE US eBay store. When I told ZTE about this, they said to contact the ebay store. I sent a message to the ebay store, but since I bought the phone back in October, I don't think they will do anything, though I haven't got a response back yet.

I agree it's frustrating. I was really excited when I saw the update on the zte website, because my phone has not had an update since I got it, and since this was an "official" update, I figured it would work with my phone.

Hopefully there is some way to either fix the update or get the device back to its original state.

So, I've been in contact with the ZTE_US ebay store. They told me to unzip the file that I downloaded from the website, and find the update.zip file in the decompressed folder. There is no update.zip file though. Does anyone here know where I might find that? I've seen some people saying to rename the downloaded file as update.zip but that didn't help either.

Hello,

I think that doesn't go to work. You must rename the file, but It will give the same error.

The only thing that I has found that can work without left the phone (and the OS) It is a "serious" update. This is: with the ZTE official update software (ZTE handset update tool) and a new "update". This new update can be the same 1.1 but with diferent version string and date.

I am triying this, but the program doesn't want install the actual update again, because the phone respond that has the same. Only putting the phone in FTM mode, the program recognise it and show the version installed. But being the same version, doesn't go further.

[mluna] or any other moderator. The answer can be speak directly with ZTE, ask that "new" update and don't let to say that the phones must be repiared through any service facility because no all owners can bring back the phone to the store.

Also It seems like more and more people It is having this problem. A slow movement by Mozilla Foundation may be catastrophic for the future of this OS.

I have not tried the FTM mode. I'm not really familiar with that. Where do you get the ZTE Handset Update Tool? You said it wouldn't work though until a new update is available?

I sent a message back to the ebay store about there not being an update.zip, still waiting for response on that.

Gabo95,

Try resetting the cache in recovery mode. ie: 1) reboot the phone 2) hold vol+ and power at the same time 3) use vol - to get to wipe cache partition; select it by using the power button 4) use vol + to get to the reboot system now; select it by using the power button.

Hello

See this. In my case this totally unbrick my phone. Also make "root" and change from the ZTE way to Mozilla.
