On Android 4.2.2 on a Nexus7 tablet - No Firefox button and most text entry fields do not work at all

I installed Firefox 19.0.2 and appears to be ok, but I don't see a Firefox button anywhere, so I cannot access any of the functions that it controls, such as bookmarks, which is why I installed it! The ASUS Nexus 7 tablet shows up as a supported platform.

I set it as the default link browser, but quickly realized that I could not enter text into any data entry fields, so I reset the default back to Chrome, which works fine for that.

I installed Firefox because bookmarks in Chrome are very lame, but I can't use bookmarks at all in Firefox, so again Chrome wins.

Any suggestions, before I uninstall it?

Mobile does have bookmarks but not in the same way as Firefox desktop. There is not a Firefox button or a Bookmarks Manger Library.

Thanks, john99 I appreciate your help. That solves one of the two issues, sort of. The articles/suggestions for solving my other issue (not being able to enter text into form fields) said to use the Firefox button and go to options,... So I assumed that I should see the Firefox button. These suggestions were on the Mozilla site, under the mobile Firefox pages, hence my confusion.

OK, so now I see how to use bookmarks and I see that the implementation is actually worse than with the Chrome browser. I have a thousand or so bookmarks hierarchically arranged so importing them into Firefox mobile makes them useless since it displays them as a flat list. At least Chrome maintains the hierarchy. It, however doesn't let you create a new bookmark into any hierarchical level, below the top...

But I still have the main problem, that of no text entry.

I am rather new to Firefox on mobiles. I do not for instance know wheter there are any Apps that would help with Bookmarks. I imagine the problem is the size Firefox Mobile and the size of the files it may use.

Have you got a link to what you looked at, maybe it is something that needs reviewing.

When you say you are unable to enter text into fields, does that include something like this forum? (Possibly a bad example as I do not think this works well on mobile)

This does not work properly for me. It appears to be a design flaw in the mobile version of this forum. I am unable to see your reply from my mobile. I can however still send a post ok I have written this on my mobile. John

I can enter text into the search field in google.com, however that seems to be the only one so far. But I haven't tried that many. I haven't tried any forums yet.

All the sites that don't work in Firefox, currently do work with Chrome.

I prefer the extra control of Firefox, but for now I am just using Chrome for links and Firefox for general web browsing, until it is better implemented.

Again, thanks for your help John. I appreciate it.

If you would like to give a couple of public examples where you find text entry does not work I will have a go myself. If necessary and it appears to be a fault I will be able to filebugs, or at least confirm it is a known issue still under development.

ok, here is one. https://www.dccc.org/page/s/dccc-e-mail-options it was the only one that was still in my history after I had cleared data to see if that helped. I did a walk through some sites I knew that had internal searches and those all worked, so far. Maybe I was just unlucky with all the email links I tried? I was getting a barrage of pre-FEC deadline political crud...

I am now a Democrat supporter. dccc.org does accept text input from my mobile.

The forum problem I mentioned earlier is apparently a known issue but only affecting legacy phones.

Sorry, John, but how does that reply help. I need the Firefox button to reset Firefox apparently. So how do I reset without a Firefox button?
