When I click on a 'contact' link in a web site to e-mail the organisation Firefox just keeps opening more and more versions of itself in quick succession - lite
The only way I can stop this is to completely shut down the computer, by which time I have literally hundreds of Firefox pages open. I use btinternet.com for e-mail. When checking the 'mailto' options in Firefox the only available one is 'always ask'. Please help!! This happens on any website with an e-mail link.

Please see this.
Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder to reset all file actions.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder
You can look at the network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs on the about:config page.
If network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs are user set (bold) then right-click and Reset them to the default value.
