Occasionally, I forget and use the red X in the upper left corner to close the Firefox window. When I restart Firefox, all the tabs and groups open when I ended the session are gone. If I remember to close using the icon on the toolbar, the tabs and groups are all there when I next open Firefox. Problem ONLY happens on my Mac. The PC does not have this issue. Problem is CONSISTENT. Happens every time.

I have noticed something similar with my Macs. If I close with the red X, I get a popup message asking if I want to close the tabs or cancel. If I close with Firefox > Quit or Cmd-Q, I get a message asking if I want to Save and Quit, Quit, or Cancel. The thing is, using the red X, is just supposed to close the interface, not the underlying process.

If you use the red close button then you only close that window, but you still have the menu bar and the Firefox application running.
In such a case you can use History > Recently Closed Windows to reopen that window and close the Firefox application via Firefox > Quit Firefox.
