Firefox crashes
Updated to v8....... Firefox will NOT open in "normal" mode --- it does however open in safe mode.
Errors when attempting to open 'normally":
1st error box: Application has failed to start because sqlite3.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem
2nd error box: firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry blah blah blah
C:\DOCUME~1\USER\LOCALS~1\Temp\402e_appcompat.txt [THIS FILE DOES NOT EXIST??]
3rd error box: AppName: firefox.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.4325 ModName: mozcrt19.dll ModVer: 8.0.0.0 Offset: 000552c5 To view technical information click here -- box appears but I am not able to copy it. It includes various modules, flag stats etc.....
Just may have to go back to v3??

Finally was able to get FF8 installed and functional. IF anyone uses Zone Alarm make sure you have updated to the latest version. I tried everything numerous times and always got the "can't find sqlite3.dll' error when trying to start FF8. Then I pulled out the ethernet cable and shut down ZA. Miraculous - it works! Wow! Plug it in - turn on ZA - YUP that was the culprit!
If you're having that problem check that your AV will actually support the newer FF ------ I noticed that as of Nov 1 2011 ZAX says it supports version 7 - not 8 yet but so far it is at least working anyway....... UGH! Things are just getting more and more convoluted and complex - way more than is necessary!

Do a clean (re)install.
- Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Uninstall your current Firefox version.
- Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
- Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
