custom toolbar disappears after upgrade

I have kept a toolbar with various addon buttons and multi-engine search bar without issue until the most recent upgrade to 4.0. now every time firefox is started or restarted, this toolbar disappears. I go to the view menu and the toolbar is no longer listed to select to view. I recreate the toolbar and the next time firefox starts or restarts, the toolbar is gone again and missing from the view menu again.

This is not the only problem I am having though. Every time firefox starts or restarts, I get one or more facebook pages that open to a "liked" content page, even though those tabs were previously closed. Also, the last tab to the right always displays odd pixels just underneath the tab before the content window begins. If I move away from the tab, the out-of-place pixels disappear and do not show up again until the next time firefox is started or restarted.

One final note: ever since firefox has upgraded to 4.0, the memory does not sit within a specific range; it keeps escalating until I realize it is way over 1,000,000 and still climbing and firefox is running slower and slower, at which point I am forced to restart firefox so that the memory will (temporarily) cease to be so high. Of course as soon as I do this, I have to deal with the above-listed problems all over again.

I have tried downloading firefox and installing it again and it did not help. I have looked on the site for any help and cannot find any answers. I really need some help with these issues.

I've found the culprit: for me, it was the Readability Add-On. It removes my custom toolbar every time. I disabled it, and my toolbars are OK!

I do not have this add-on.

I did however find a temporary fix to the problem of my toolbar disappearing- I make the bookmarks toolbar visable, remove all items from it, and set it up the way i had my custom toolbar set up. this had worked out as a very nice loophole.

on the other hand, firefox's memory piles on without end, making it very slow after a few days of leaving the app running, still necessitating an occasional restart. it turns out to be a great way to make my computer overheat. way to go, firefox 4... :(
