Firefox on my laptop stopped connecting to web. Explorer works.

Suddenly for no apparent reason Firefox will not connect to the web. It's not the Windows Firewall , I checked. Microsoft Explorer is working fine. I made sure to download the latest version and installed it, no luck. Using Windows XP. Any ideas?

It is now over a month and no help. I tried uninstalling Firefox and deleting all references to it in regedit. I checked my Windows firewall and turned off my Norton 360 firewall. After reinstall...nothing. Any ideas out there?
