I recent migrated from Ubuntu Mate 20.04 to 22.04, now I see that Firefox come from snap (not form .deb package). I find that bleachbit is no more capable to clean Firefox cache and I find a tricky situation: Firefox suggest me to autocomplete fields like account or username, amount (in home banking web page) and others, but I disabled the auto complete and the suggestions I can see are even from months ago and I never see that suggestions when I was using 20.04 because bleachbit was cleaning it weekly. Now the fact is that represent a privacy problem for me. How can I fix this problem?

I am not familiar with snap. On my Firefox for Linux I can use Clear Recent History (ctl+shft+del) and select Form & Search history for the time range I want to clear (you probably want 'Everything' as the "time range").

You can switch to Firefox from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

Hi Terry, thx for your reply. I Know that I can clean everything from the Firefox menu, but the fact is that bleachbit cleans my system automatically once per week, I don't want to do it manually. I think that the problem is in where the cookies and other stuff are stored or the privileges assigned to those folder/files.

Hi cor-el, thx for your reply.

I'll try it, but I need to understand if installing from there I'll receive updates automatically, otherwise I'll need a repos. I'm going to check.

The profile used by the snap version is in a different location and not in ~/.mozilla.

  • ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default

Due to too much problem with the snap install version I reinstalled Firefox from Launchpad PPA, now it is working 99%. I'll open other question for 1% remaining.
