how to use FaviconReloader
I am trying to restore the missing bookmark favicons that did not transfer from a Chrome bookmark import and have installed the addon FaviconReloader. For the life of me I cannot see that it has done anything (it says it adds a control in the bookmarks menu and context menu but I find neither) and I can't seem to find a way to use it. I have tried an uninstall/re-install. Can anyone give me some help, please?

Please contact the developer of the add on for more information. At this time I have not seen functionality for importing favicons from Chrome.
You can find a "Reload Favorite Icons" in the Bookmarks menu drop-down.
- Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
If you click More of this extension on the about:addons page then you see this:
After installation you will find the addon in the bookmark menu and in the context menu.
Thanks, cor-el, but neither the Bookmarks menu drop-down nor the context menu show this add-on. I've tried uninstalling/re-installing without success. I do see the addon in the context menu if I use the bookmarks sidebar but using it on a link simply opens the web page to refresh the missing favicon...I can do that myself from the full-screen bookmarks. Once before (on a problematic profile) I could open the full-screen bookmarks, select a folder, click on multiple bookmarks, rt click on the context menu and the add-on would do it's thing on all the bookmarks without opening a single web page. Am I doing something wrong here?
Firefox 38.0.1, Windows 7
Do you see the extension in about:addons?
Does this URL give any response?
- chrome://faviconreloader/content/FavIcon.xul
Try to disable all other extensions in case one of them is interfering.
You can let all favicons expire to see if that makes the extension work.
You can open the Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer). Paste the JavaScript code in the command line and press the Enter key to run the code.
- Toggle the devtools.chrome.enabled pref on the about:config page to true to enable the command line
- https://developer.mozilla.org/Tools/Browser_Console#Browser_Console_command_line
var fS = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/favicon-service;1"] .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIFaviconService); fS.expireAllFavicons();
Extension was listed in about:addons
Target URL showed nothing...see FAV1 (attached)
Disabling all other extensions.............no effect, but re-enabling them wiped all my bookmark bar favicons - restored by going to the web pages.....see FAV3
Running JavaScript.....no effect...............see FAV3
Hope these trials tell you something.
Thanks to guigs2...I have posted to Mozilla Addons Forum
