Hi. The other day my laptop ran out of power. I had my one, "main" firefox window up and running, and was just preparing to close the window and shut down the computer... but before I could exit (so firefox could save my tabs) it shut off.
The next time I opened firefox, expecting it to have recovered my session (and my tab groups!!) as it usually does, I didn't even get the restore window (about:sessionrestore) ... just the old homepage. All of my tab groups disappeared as well, and I thought... "this doesn't look good."
Searching around all afternoon on a public forum or two, I found information on the session.bak file - so I searched my computer for it, and found it.
NOW... when I open this file...(in mozilla firefox) I get a pile of HTML on a page --- and have no clue what to do from here. I believe that the session.bak file (dated just prior to the crash/laptop shut off) actually contains everything. I just don't know what to do from here!
Can someone help?

I was happily typing along and noticed both a typo and the fact that the typo was NOT underlined in red squiggles. Hmmmm, I thought.
Fiddling around, I discovered an option on right-click that allowed Me to turn on spellcheck. Now, every time I type in an email or forum, on Twitter, anywhere, I have to right-click to be sure of My spelling.
Thus began My efforts to find how to set the button to be on by default... Finding none led Me to "Help," which a search of the term "spellcheck default" led Me to a zero in returns. Sure, there were discussions with those terms, but I could not prowl them all looking for the method of setting spellcheck to be on by default. The first few pages yielded nothing...
So if You would please, direct Me to that function. [smile]

Last month, I have a chance to tried Windows 8.1 (dell inspiron duo) from my acquaintance, and I have installed firefox win8 touch to know what it looks like. But It never works! I have tried everything and it never works!
The only one thing i get is: I opened Firefox Touch from Firefox desktop, then modern loading screen open, then it close and back to firefox desktop... And Firefox Title only open Firefox Desktop. (I have set my firefox as default of course)
And I thought this maybe the reason why Firefox Touch being dead now...
Why? well... maybe that because there are no more than 1000 people can really run Firefox Touch! It's a giant bug and all of another tester just think mozilla all really known so they never report this. At least that's my thought...
I don't have a chance to use windows 8.1 in longterm now so I couldn't report that bug in detail... I hope this will help in some case though.

I have been using XP as the OS for many, many years and have been using Firefox also with never any problems with blocking cookies using that feature. As of today, when I received the new computer, this is not functional. I have attempted to block google.com cookie several times and each time, it keeps appearing in the cookies list which shows what is on the computer. Is this a problem with Win 7, or a change in Firefox? The options windows have changed in some aspects as well. I downloaded Firefox immediately after getting the new computer.
This is very, very frustrating. Any and all help will be most appreciated.

I am sick and tired of my firefox browser getting attacked, and changing my "new tab" url, my homepage url and anything else I have set on my browser. I understand the master password for logging into sites, but why is there no admin password for changing settings. If you had an admin password, that is required to change any setting, then this browser would be a lot more secure, and with a lot fewer problems. Please add an option or addon to have an admin password, that overrides everything else, and will ONLY allow changes to any setting with its use.

Background: hardware- newly built computer- Celeron D 3.33GHz, Windows 7 64 bit (legal purchase)
software: Mozilla Firefox 27.0.1 downloaded from Mozilla, installer file=Firefox Setup Stub 27.0.1
Problem: Firefox operates fine until I install a video capture add-on like Easy Youtube Video Downloader or Youtube and More-Easy Video Downloader from the Mozilla site.
Once one of these are installed I get lots of windows popping open everytime I go near a site with videos. One window's URL started with jsf.jsticket.net..... and asks to download some software. Multiple windows have opened with all sort of software download/install links.
I have uninstalled Firefox using RevoUninstaller and tried installing again using a freshly downloaded Firefox installer. When I put in one of these add-ons things go bad again.
I have run a security sweep in Safe Mode-proceedure outlined at http://securitytango.com/windows.php software run in Safe Mode not attached to internet: Rkill Unhide TDSSKiller Stinger SuperAntiSpyware (update it first) Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (update it first) antivirus program (update it first) There was now virus or malware detected.
I'm going a bit crazy because I have another machine running with Windows 7 & Firefox 27.0.1 with Youtube and More-Easy Video Downloader 1.97.25 and it works just fine.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Dave

I get this message; The connection to www.paypal.com was interrupted while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. It works OK on IE but not on Firefox. I Cleared cache and cookies and allowed Firefox on the firewall.
Labels are produced as a pop up window which you then print from. I'm getting the pop up but then I get the above message. On the paypal forums, other people are having this problem, only with Firefox.

I have several (4) computers with Firefox 27 and a download button that does nothing when I click it. It show a drop down balloon that shows recent downloads/current downloads or "Show All Downloads"
When I download/save a file I can see the button graphic change and the file downloads but still clicking the button doesn't do anything. it doesn't drop down the downloads like it should.
I have tried re-install and resetting and deleting localstore.
These are all windows 7 machines running on accounts with only user privledges, not admin.

I use the same VBA program (unchanged for ages) to download sequentially many *.csv files from finance.yahoo into Excel without actually opening Firefox. The program uses "ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink Address:=name" to get each file in Excel, manipulates file a little, saves it, and then asks for the next "name" in a loop. Today the hyperlink opens Firefox window which than open new tab and new Excel window for each requested file. And after few (3 or 4 loops) it kills the VBA code and hangs up.

I have a 64 bit pc but Flash player and plugin container seem to be 32 bit. Is this relevant ?
The CPU goes up to 60% for just these two processes within about 3 minutes of streaming some videos. The system effectively dies until I end one of the processes with task manager.
An example of a video which displays this issue is http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/8/31/the-mini-0801-tiny-1080p-gps-car-camera-with-an-lcd-screen.html
Firefox plays the BBC Iplayer videos with no problems but files like the Techmoan above make the CPU go wild and stop the PC within about 3 minutes.
Opera 20 plays the Techmoan video all the way through with no problems.
This points to the problem being in Firefox.
I think that I have the latest Adobe Flash player and the latest Firefox.
When downloading video Firefox slows until full video buffering. On some sites, the music playback is not possible due to unexplained stuttering audio.

Hello, I'm using firefox with a socks 5 proxy,
I set network.proxy.socks_remote_dns to true and can confirm the socks request send to proxy server is address is domain not ip resolved.
But when I use wireshark to capture dns packet, I still can see dns query of the domain firefox visited send direct.
Is firefox resolve domain twice with proxy and direct just like chrome?
Are there some settings to turn off this?
I test firefox version 24 and 27, both has the same problem, os is windows 7 64bit.
I asked another guy let him use wireshark to check dns leak, same result.
I also try set network.dns.disablePrefetch to true and network.prefetch-next to false, no effect.
I create a new profile and disable all addon and plugin, no effect.

After closing the Firefox browser, the firefox.exe process continues to run and must be closed via Task Manager before Firefox can be restarted or any other application initiated. The process will continue to run for more than a half hour, consuming 100% of CPU cycles and 250 to 450MB RAM without ever terminating on its own. (I didn't have the patience to see if it would continue to eat CPU cycles for a hour or longer.) This problem has persisted for YEARS, through successive updates. I have read all the proposed solution procedures in Support and in Mozillazine, but none of them work since none addresses the cause. I am presently running Firefox 26.0 but wanted to fix this problem before upgrading again.
I have two profiles, "fat" and "slim"; their primary difference is that "slim" has NO bookmarks or sites history. I removed all plugins (disabled and uninstalled); then I disabled all extensions (listed below). Then I enabled the extensions one at a time, restarting Firefox "slim" profile after each; Task Manager verified that the firefox process was NOT still running and the browser restarted without problem. The "slim" profile with all extensions enabled closes and restarts without problems.
I followed the same procedure for the "fat" profile. However, even with all plugins removed and all extensions disabled, the firefox.exe process invoked by the "fat" profile would not terminate on exit and would prevent Firefox from restarting until the process had been killed in Task Manager. Then I removed from the "fat" profile five large sqlite database and other files:
bookmarks.html 23,945 KB
places.sqlite 26,896 KB session.rdf 10,585 KB session-1.rdf 3,152 KB
urlclassifier.sqlite 44,684 KB
Of course, Firefox recreates these, but the new versions are empty with minimal size. Now the "fat" profile with all extensions enabled exited as expected and the process terminated by itself. But when I replaced the original, large files back into the "fat" profile, the problem returned: the process would not terminate, consumed 100% of CPU cycles, held 1/2GB of RAM, and would not restart or allow another program to start.
So, if you have verified your extensions and plugins, but experience this behavior, check especially your bookmarks.html, places.sqlite, and urlclassifier.splite files. The larger these files are, the longer Firefox will take to close down in an orderly manner. Closing Firefox, and then opening Task Manager to kill the firefox.exe process is a STUPID procedure to force onto users because bad code gets caught thrashing or lost in the profile's large files.
Now my questions: (1) Is Mozilla working on this problem--Firefox choking the CPU while it's stuck interminably "processing" the large profile files? (2) Are the only current practical solutions to erase or not even to accumulate such histories?

Basically out of nowhere YouTube stopped loading Videos. At first other Streams would still work but by now I only get a black square, where the clip should appear. Pretty much at the same time, whenever a YouTube tab was open, even without a player in it the "thinking wheel" appeared at the cursor an started flashing (strangely it stops when I mouseover a link) and from time to time the whole browser freezes für about 30 seconds. Everything is fine in Chrome and IE I've gone through several forums trying to solve at least one of the issues, but nothing worked. My failed attemps so far were: -update all plugins -update all players -update FF though FF itself refused to do so and I had to download the install.exe with chrome -restart FF -reset FF -delete and reinstall FF -restarting the pc -clearing the cache -clearing the cookies -disable hardware acceleration -FF safe mode -switching off caret browsing -enabled HTML5 in YouTube
So, mighty race of men, a chance for you to show your quality!
