This article describes the major changes in Thunderbird version 16. For a complete list of bugs that have been resolved in the release, refer to the complete TB16 bugs fixed list.

Box Storage Provider Added to Filelink

Thunderbird's Filelink functionality (which allows you to upload large attachments to an online storage service provider) now works with the Box online storage service. Refer to the Filelink for Large Attachments article for instructions on how to send large files via Box.

Silent or Background Updates

Thunderbird now downloads and applies updates invisibly in the background, which reduces the amount of time it takes to apply updates and re-start. This eliminates the update progress dialog on all platforms. On Windows, it removes the need for the User Access Control dialog, making updating easier and quicker.
