How do I change the order of my email account folders in Thunderbird 115.6? I have multiple accounts and just added another, and I want to move it from the bottom of the sidebar to a higher location. I used to be able to click and move around accounts in the "account settings" mode. Now, that doesn't work. Is there a solution? The instructions provided in the video created by Thunderbird in 2022 doesn't work! Please help!

I just want to use Thunderbird to access a Newsgroup, so I deleted my gmail email account from Thunderbird (which Thunderbird apparently found on its own: it was in Thunderbird when I first started it).

But Thunderbird keeps trying to logon to the gmail account - popping up a dialog requiring me to provide my gmail password and authorize Thunderbird. It does this every 15 minutes (the frequency I want Thunderbird to check for Newsgroup posts).

How can I stop this?

I am in the UK. Cannot send messages from Hotmail accounts through Thunderbird. Error message is always: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: * OK The Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 service is ready. [TABPADIAUAAyADYANQBDAEEAMAAxADQANAAuAEcAQgBSAFAAMgA2ADUALgBQAFIATwBEAC4ATwBVAFQATABPAE8ASwAuAEMATwBNAA==]. I have tried innumerable outgoing server settings suggested on this forum and on my Outlook webmail. None of them work. This is in addition to the fact that about 90% of the time Thunderbird won't log in to the Hotmail accounts either, and then suddenly it will, intermittently. All of this suddenly started 3 days ago (Jan24, 2024) Before the above error message started appearing yesterday, intermittently I could send from the Hotmail accounts but not receive. Now I can sometimes receive, but not send. Weird. Help...in as untechnical terms as possible; I am nearly 80 and not very computer literate.

I got an email this morning from my business partner saying that he was attaching a file that I needed. However, there was no attachment. I was about to email him back to tell him that he forgot to attach it when I realized that EVERY single email he has ever sent me in the past was missing its attachment. Even emails from months ago that I already read. I can see the paper clip icon, but when I click on the email itself, the paper clip disappears. If I try to forward an email, it looks like it's there as an attachment, but appears to be misformed or corrupted. Please help! My business partner is my graphic designer and has sent me hundreds and hundreds of emails with graphic design projects that I need access to. I have tested sending myself different attachments and they all go through. And am able to see attachments from clients as well - except for one that was not working. Any thoughts?

I share an outgoing server for my email, and have no difficulty sending from my personal (erin@grawlix.ca) only from my business (locksmith@grawlix.ca)

I noticed this issue on Wednesday, Jan 24th, though it's possible I didn't send a message through that account since Wednesday, Jan 10th.

I can send from both accounts if I go through my provider's webmail site (Shaw) with no difficulties.

Thunderbird -- Changes to files (size increase) on 11/30/2023

My backup tool blew up due to 1000's of Thunderbird files being modified.

I can't tell if this was due to some kind of malware, or if Version 115.5.1 of Thunderbird went through the database/file structure and wholesale modified everything. If the former, I don't want to backup the files (yes, I have run BitDefender of the profile structure: all 125K files and it comes up clean). If the latter, and everything is operating as normal/expected, then I do. I have seen no issues with the operation of Thunderbird (which I love, BTW).

So, did Thunderbird change 1000's files that were otherwise not accessed by me? (see example in attachment)

I am currently running the Version 115.5.2 (64-bit) / December 11, 2023. I presume this event followed shortly after the installation of "Version 115.5.1, first offered to channel users on November 27, 2023."

I have two accounts with sbcglobal.net. One is still working when I use Mozilla Thunderbird to access my emails. The other just stopped working today. I can neither send nor receive my email messages in Thunderbird. I spoke to a sbcglobal.net rep and they said to contact Thunderbird, as the message I am getting says server error. Since I can access both accounts via the Internet, it is not sbcglobal.net's problem. The rep also mentioned that blocks of email accounts are being updated on their servers. Maybe Thunderbird needs to reconnect with yahoo and at&t, etc.???

I have asked this before and nobody had a clue. I want to get my messages in order of receipt, instead of alphabetically or by subject. Clicking on my choice for sorting does not work, so I cannot find any new messages in one of my accounts. If this is a lost cause I want to delete the account altogether and need instructions to do that. I don't want to uninstall TB because another account is working fine.

Hello, I'm running 115.6.0 (64-bit) on Ubuntu Studio 20.04.6 LTS (Xfce, if that's important ?)

Because I have 10 (IMAP) accounts configured I normally run in "Unified Folders" mode and I was therefore in this mode when I upgraded.

If I select View | Folders | "All Folders" I get a tick-mark but if I then click somewhere else on the screen and go back the only tick is against "Unified Folders".

If I select "Recent Folders" , "Unread Folders", or "Favorite Folders" they are displayed and stay displayed.

I have tried deleting the various files in the Mail directory suggested by other solutions but they don't make a difference. I think I don't have a problem getting "Unified Folders" - I have the problem of NOT using "Unified Folders". . .

Any ideas ?

PS: Non of my IMAP accounts allow me to select a folder for "Sent"; "Archives"; "Drafts" or "Templates" in the "Copies & Folders" section. - The field is either "NO available folders" or is empty and has no drop-down list available.

Threading nightmare - messages missing

All the threading help is oriented to something I can set on the menu bar that also includes Date, From, Size, etc. I wish my threading problem was that easy. Threading is not chosen, never has been. Then suddenly April 2, 2024 6:30pm est, all my e-mails that had a thread got threaded, with arrows showing up in the subject of the e-mails.

There is a symbol on a different bar with choices like Sort By --> Threaded or unthreaded. All this does is hide e-mails that are even threaded or unthreaded, but it shows that what happened to me is also called "threaded." The term "threaded" has two meanings or definitions or uses or whatever, which makes asking for help all the more difficult. People keep telling me about the menu when I have a choice of threading, not realizing, as I think David didn't, that threading is also elsewhere in the thunderbird software.

And when I choose to show threaded, that e-mail I was sending on April 2 does not show up, but if I search for the file, it does show up. So it is there, but invisible. This whole threading situation just gets worse and worse. I need that file in particular, as it happens.

Hello dear Thunderbird members.

Please, I would like your assistance to the following issue.

It's about when creating an existing account on Thunderbird application. Creating a Google mail account, or Yahoo! account (IMAP setting up). Or creating on POP3 module my mail account that I have on my internet provider.

So, the question/problem is, when I create account, all settings are being created (settings I mean incoming mail server, ports, etc), the authentication of username and password is passed, and finally account is created, with inbox folder, and immediately automatic getting messages begins. And, all other folders under inbox are being created/loaded. What I want to ask is if there is a technique, after account creation, only the inbox folder to be created empty, then not starting an automatic getting messages, and only if I click on inbox folder or press the get messages button, just then, the getting messages and folders begin. Just something like say disable automatic getting messages when creating existing account.

Is there any way to make this?

Is there any reference material that gives a detailed explanation on how to create a filter under the latest version of TB? In addition, none of my previous filters work!

The ability to change font size is disabled. I lost my User profile on my PC, and I am starting from scratch with all settings. My custom folders are still there, but I have had to recreate message filter rules, and I can't get the font large enough to read.

Note: When I click on the image I provide below, it makes it look like my font size is huge. It is not.

I have two separate Thunderbird email accounts, one which shows Local Folders in the left folder pane and one doesn't. When I select "Hide Local Folders" on the account that doesn't show that folder name, all folders, Inbox, Sent, Junk etc disappear from view. I need to change these two accounts prom Pop3 to Imap but keep the Local Folders for filing read emails but am concerned that when I delete the Pop account I will also lose all my previously saved emails. It appears that on one account all of the folders are acting as Local Folders although the top header is my email address and not "Local Folders"

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
