How can I edit a message I have received, in order to make it more useful in my archive?

As an example, I might order a flashlight from a vendor. I would have received an order confirmation by email, and then might get another message when it is delivered. But depending on the vendor's practices, these messages might not say "flashlight." A year later, suppose I want to know where I ordered the flashlight. If the messages refer to an order number but do not say "flashlight", I don't have a simple way to find this out. What I would like to do, when I archive the message (or subsequently), is to edit the body (or subject) to include this keyword. Is there any straightforward way to do this in Thunderbird? Thanks for any advice.

Running Thunderbird 115.6.1 (64-bit) on Windows 10. I can add an EVENT to any of my 5 calendars in the dropdown. But when I try to add a TASK, only 4 calendars are offered. Naturally, it's the missing calendar (xxx@gmail.com) I need!

Suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

About four days ago my email froze & asked for my password to activate imap.mail.yahoo.com. Everytime I enter my password it flags failed & asks for retry or new password. Finally I went directly to the yahoo mail site & logged in with the exact same password. If it works on yahoo mail but not on Thunderbird (anymore) I am at a loss. Can you help me? Thx, Doug

I need to generate notices for the sender of all incoming email messages. I've been searching and trying now for several days without success. Is there a method to export all the messages for a folder to a readable file on a local disk so it can be read with a custom program? I'm hoping this is something that is available but if so I cannot find where. Thanks in advance for any ideas/pointers/instructions.

Recently when an email is moved by a filter, either on initial receipt or on manual run, the message appears in the correct folder okay but is not removed from the inbox. i.e. it appears in both. If I delete it from the inbox it gets deleted from the folder as well. !! I am not aware of having changed any settings. Can anyone explain where I'm going wrong, please? John

I think Thunderbird internal spam settings are not letting important messages to be delivered.

It seems that e-mails from one particular e-mail address, solidifi_values@solidifi.com are being blocked or filtered out as spam. I need Thunderbird to recognize this address and allow all e-mails from this address to be delivered to me. This is the second time I have posted this request. I run a. Thunderbird v 78.14.0 (64-bit) on a Macbook Pro 13"mid 2012 with Mac OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite) b. Thunderbird v 115.5.1 (64-bit) on a Macbook Pro 15" mid 2012 with macOS 10.15.7 (Catalina)

How do I make happen, that I sync the calendars in both Thunderbirds constantly, i.o.w. instantly (like for example the iMAP emails do)??

I find the option for new calendars: "On the network" ... Which network is here meant??? In the help there is not much info about it. I am not using and will not use Google or any kind of "social media" (!)

Can I use my own homepage host (which has some webspace left) in order to sync? Or for example an online storage like mega.nz ?

Or could the both macs just sync the thunderbird calendars just via WiFi/WLAN directly (AirDrop ?) or via Bluetooth ??

It would be so great if calendar sync would be as easy as the emails do!

Hello, Linux environment is running on my chromebook, thunderbird has been installed. 2 issues: - When I try to install an extension, I always get a message "This extension will have permission to have unlimited access to thunderbird and the computer". and I'm stuck. The add button does not trigger any action. This does the same thing if I want to install a dictionary from the settings. - I have no access shared folders like my Drive on my Chromebook, despite having Linux sharing enabled. As of today, I can no longer send or receive emails in Thunderbird. No settings were changed. I checked and everything is set up the way it should be. Bluehost also confirmed it all looks good.

SO WHY DID THUNDERBIRD DECIDE TO STOP WORKING TODAY? Fortunately I can still get the email within Webmail, but I prefer not to do that, since all my folders aren't set up there. Any ideas what caused this and more importantly, how can I fix it? I do have the latest version of TB.

The images show that it just sits there for a long time trying to send and then the other shows the resulting error message.

All mails downloaded on initial mail account set up

I have installed TB on a new device and want to set up my mail accounts with only the last 3 months mail for each one.

I understand the IMAP account settings for "Synchronization & Storage" & "Disk Space" where indeed you can set the download by size or time.

The problem is that those settings are only accessible once the mail account is set up.

The mail account set up itself initiates the download of all mail from the server the instant the account is set up which is then not adjustable until after that initial download is complete.

i.e. there appears to be no way to stop the entire mailbox from the server being downloaded.

Does anyone know a way to time limit that initial download or indeed prevent any initial download until the account settings can be used to do so?

Suddenly getting error message window titled "Send Message Error" Reads" Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.peak.org failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

Checked with ISP and they have not blocked or many any changes and verified the SMTP settings are correct. Port 465 Connection Security SSL/TLS Authentication Method Normal Password.

I also at times received a Tbird window in the lower right of the screen that I couldn't using the snipping tool on to same. Says something about reducing the cache which I did to no avail, going from what I gather is a default 15 to 10.

Was sending messages without issue this morning but now can't get past the above message. Can send messages using the ISP's Zimbra webmail. They have no knowledge of Thunderbird and do not support it. I've read what I could find but didn't see anything replicating my issue.

Hoping someone can help, I'm setting up my Gmail account and have copied all the settings over exactly from my old laptop and have generated a new 'app password' in Gmail. Thunderbird pops up a Google login page then it is saying it can't connect to the server. Everything is working fine on my old laptop with configuration exactly the same (except for the use of older but still active app password).

I don't think Google allows me to see my old app password, only generate a new one, but as the new one won't work I'm thinking that maybe Google somehow knows I'm using POP email on two machines and won't allow this until I delete the old app password. Does anyone have experience of this? Just don't want to delete the password in case it stops working on both laptops! Also note that I don't want to disable 2 step authentication as this makes my account less secure and it has been working fine for years with this enabled.
