The switch for selecting read messages only does not stay in the state chosen between usages. In the prior versions, it would remain as selected. In my case, unread messages only. In version 115, it stopped working that way. I am using 115.3.2. It's not a significant problem, but it's a PIA. I have attached a screenshot to help with my explanation.

I don't want to change programs because of that. everything works normally via outlook. MANY Years of experience in this Industry has taught me that the Most "UNSTABLE" types of Files, across Numerous Different Manufacturers and Products are Email Files. Trying to Migrate (Often IMPORTANT) emails from one system to another as the Computer Industry advances too fast for its own good, OFTEN results in the LOSS of Data, and Duplicating the Contents of emails in different File Types, before Migrating, Compacting, or whatever, takes FAR TOO LONG. So I've learnt to LEAVE The Files ALONE and Try to keep Duplicates, when time permits. I'm a New User of Thunderbird (because my previous Microsoft Product was "losing" files) and today, for the First Time I was ask to allow Thunderbird to COMPACT its files. I worry that this will make the Files HARDER / SLOWER to Access, MORE LIKELY to be LOST, and LESS EASY to Migrate at some time in the future. My Computer has TONS of Unused Space, so I have no Personal Need to Recover the 230MB Thunderbird is telling me it will Free Up.

What is your recomendation - based Primarly on the RELIABILITY and SECURITY of my Data.

I have tried to download FireFox, but my computer doesn't have enough space. My email options do not let me delete emails, stating an error, that there is not enough disk space. Here is the message "There is not enough disk space to download new messages. Try deleting old mail, emptying the Trash folder, and compacting your mail folders, and then try again." I delete all emails from my trash folder, and with it empty, it still does not allow me to delete from the inbox.

Hi,

Hoping someone can help, I'm setting up my Gmail account and have copied all the settings over exactly from my old laptop and have generated a new 'app password' in Gmail. Thunderbird pops up a Google login page then it is saying it can't connect to the server. Everything is working fine on my old laptop with configuration exactly the same (except for the use of older but still active app password).

I don't think Google allows me to see my old app password, only generate a new one, but as the new one won't work I'm thinking that maybe Google somehow knows I'm using POP email on two machines and won't allow this until I delete the old app password. Does anyone have experience of this? Just don't want to delete the password in case it stops working on both laptops! Also note that I don't want to disable 2 step authentication as this makes my account less secure and it has been working fine for years with this enabled.

Memory Leak in 102.5.0?

My instance is showing signs of a memory leak. I had to shut it down when it had taken over almost all the RAM in my very large Debian 11 workstation. 105 of 128 GB.

Restarting cleared it up, memory usage went back to about 440M.

But I put a tracker on it, and it creeps upward. So I have started bouncing (restarting) it whenever it gets around 800M or more.

Is this fixed in 102.6? That's not in the Debian repo yet but I am sure it will be soon-ish. Debian is slow to change.

A number of emails from legitimate forums are going to my junk folder. They do not appear in my junk folder until I actually access that folder. The account is an IMAP.

Emails come normally to my main inbox.

How do I correct this? I constantly have to open my junk folder to see if there are any legitimate emails.

people keep saying Mozilla support is really good, but that's not what i (and loads of others) are currently experiencing. it's been six days now, and not a word from Mozilla about the disastrous car crash that is 102.2.2. missing emails and folders, search problems, duplicate emails in the Inbox. i see no actual improvements at all. did they ever test it? why couldn't all this new stuff be modular, so we didn't have to have it if we didn't need all the chat, and the calendar, and all the rest of it, just to send and receive emails? why did they go from version 91 to version 102? that in itself is suspicious. when are we going to hear from them, and what are they going to do about it? six days is too long to hear nothing.

I have been using Thunderbird portable for awhile and have had no issues. I have to use Pop3 due to work and everything is fine.

Today I open Thunderbird and it crashes right away. I reinstalled it and moved file over and the only way to get it to open is to replace the profile file in the data folder. Problem is then I lose all my emails and I have some important ones.

Is it possible to even just restore all my emails?

Move email messages from Local Folder to IMAP folder (Outlook.com)

I have about 30,000 messages in a local folder on TB. I need to move them to an IMAP folder on my outlook.com account. I have been able to move some but TB just stops moving the files randomly. I have tried: creating a new TB profile Moving small batches Creating a new destination folder on the IMAP account Granting all permissions to destination folder Reindexing TB Compacting the Local folder Checking/Changing SMTP server settings Read everything I could find in various forums There are 'services' that claim to do this for you but require me to grant permissions I am uncomfortable with Thanks for any wisdom you can offer to resolve this.

I have been successfully using Thunderbird for many years. In the last year or so I have been noticing that occasionally one of my sent emails gets corrupted such that the email body starts showing html text and the email subject header is changed to another email header that exists in the same folder but is unrelated to the email body. When I check the corrupted email from the Gmail web user interface, the email is not corrupted. I tried repairing the folder but to no avail.

Thunderbird lost passwords for att.net accounts so I can't send or receive emails

This started two days ago and I've been searching the web for solutions, but all I get are outdated solutions that won't wonk on my current Thunderbird version 115.4.2. When I open the Thunderbird window, two smaller windows open asking for me to enter the passwords for the two att.net accounts. I assumed they meant my AT&T passwords but when I entered them they came back as "failed". I then tried the "master" password I put in several years ago (which I have never needed to re-enter) and that didn't work either. I am attaching a photo of what comes up when I open Thunderbird. You can see the two boxes that want me to enter the passwords but I have no idea what to enter. If it wasn't my master password or my AT&T passwords for each account, it must have been something I used when I installed Thunderbird ten years ago that somehow got deleted or lost.

I downloaded another email client to use temporarily until I get my Thunderbird fixed so I can not get my emails, but I hate this new client for a lot of reasons that are irrelevant here. I hate this new client and I need my Thunderbird back. Can anyone give me any idea on how to find the right password or to change the password so it will work again?
