In my Bookmarks Toolbar I have created a Folder, 'News' and placed it at extreme left, next to the 'Show Your Bookmarks'. By clicking on the 'News' Folder I can see and select any of my favorite Web news sites. Very handy. Today, however, when I clicked on the News folder my 73-year-old hand accidentally dragged the News folder on top of the 'Show Your Bookmarks' icon and the News folder disappeared !! I can't figure out where it went !! Help !!

Version: 78.15.0esr (64-bit)

The bookmark dropdown submenus won't open any more. I can click Bookmarks>next random menu>next menu and it won't show the bookmarks. To be clear, I am going to a folder bookmark and then a sub-folder bookmark which won't show what is inside this sub-folder.

Any idea why this is happening?

TIA

Hi - I followed other threads to try to resolve the problem of not being able to delete old bookmarks.

I used about:support and ran verify integrity to discover places.sqlite was corrupt. So I closed down Firefox and deleted it based on advice. Reran it and it states:

All my bookmarks are gone, but the folders are still there. I tried to use the restore from several dates and it still shows only folders, no bookmarks. I checked my phone - I had made sure to turn off sync for bookmarks, etc, but didn't sign out of sync. Bookmarks were still there. So I turned on sync to try to get them back on my browser. Even though sync had been on, it hadn't synced every bookmark from the browser though. (?!) So it seems very weird that I wouldn't be able to delete some bookmarks that weren't even synced in the first place. So I didn't get back all my bookmarks. I turned off sync on my phone and tried again from the browser, this time signing out completely from sync. It gave me only the folders. I should also mention, I restarted my computer and then Firefox several times during this process. I'm scared to delete any more system files as it seems that it will further remove necessary information. I'm not a coder, but it seems my bookmarks are still there? I tried exporting them and importing in Chrome - only the folders showed up there.

Any ideas? Thanks - your help is appreciated!

I'm a long time Firefox user and for years I used the Notes section in Mozilla Firefox Bookmarks until it was removed in Rel 6.2. Next I used the ESR path to save all my Notes in Firefox Bookmarks. I used the notes to store the "what was your favorite dog?" security question, and notes on how to find hidden document at that web site.

This forum then suggestion I install an Extension "Bookmark Notes" It took a lot of time to manually copy my answers over to "Bookmark Notes", web site by web site, to all of my PCs.

Now I find that all of my information is missing from this extension and "Bookmark Notes" has gone unsupported since 2021.

  • How can I repair "Bookmark Notes" Extension?
  • Where are the notes stored for this extension?
  • Can I reload all the copied information from a back up of my windows drive?
  • Is there a replacement for the "Bookmark Notes" extension?

I have tried numerous times to copy over the contents of my Firefox default profile folder from a Windows 10 PC to a new Windows 11 PC. I followed all the instructions as far as I know (when either saving or pasting the folder contents, Firefox is off; successfully downloaded and installed Firefox on new PC creating a new default profile which is where I pasted the contents from previous PC's profile, etc.) When Firefox is restarted on the new PC, it is just the same as the new installation -- no bookmarks from the old profile show up, e.g.).

Any ideas for how to get this to work are greatly appreciated. I have a lot of bookmarks and need to be able to access them on new PC. (BTW, this approach worked just fine when I installed a new disk drive on the old PC about 5 years ago and brought all the Firefox profile data over - everything came over as expected. I wouldn't think the fact that this is a Windows 10 to Windows 11 porting has anything to do with it not working -- these are just profile folders.)

Would Synching the two PCs work better? Does Synch just add all the profile and password data on the two PCs together so that each ends up with the total of what was on the two individual PCs and nothing on either is lost? When I looked at Synch on new PC, it was not clear how to get it to point to the old PC - Add a New Device just seemed to point to a phone. Again, any help is much appreciated.

I cannot capture and move bookmarks which are located in the hidden overflow bookmark toolbar section. I can capture and move the bookmarks with my mouse if they're located across the top of the screen (under the address bar), but if they are located in the hidden drop down overflow section (drop down arrows on the right side of the screen) I cannot capture them and move them. I've used two different mouses, thinking maybe the first one was defective, but neither one will capture and relocate a bookmark (in the hidden part of the toolbar). Both of the mouses are new, having been bought within the past couple months. Please advise.

My situation is: I got a new/used PC with fresh install Win11 and SSD's. On old PC, win7, I used Firefox and saved my bookmarks as "restore" I guess (not HTML) to my D drive. Firefox was installed on old C HDD drive.

I have added old HDD to new PC case and want to copy/move/import my Firefox bookmarks to use in new Edge browser. I found my old saved bookmarks (on D drive HDD) as a JSON file. Edge can import only HTML bookmark files. What do I do?

I've spent 5-6 hours searching web but cannot find any solution.
