Since I upgraded from FF128-esr to FF140-esr I always get the "Firefox is being updated by another instance" This is really driving me crazy, as I checked / did / .... everything (and even more) I found on the internet related to that.

Nothing helps !

Creating and using a new default profile didn't help

Finally I ended up uninstalling FF completely (making sure no -zero- leftovers remained in ProgramFiles, AppData a.s.o.), and reinstalled FF140.7.0-esr freshly. After installation I started FF immediately with the created default profile (only existing one) --> SAME THING : "Firefox is being updated by another instance"

And this is really a FF140 thing, when I go back to FF128, on the same computer, same profiles, ...., the problem is gone.

I would like to know in detail what checks are really done by FF to decide to give that "Firefox is being updated by another instance"

I'm running Firefox on Win10 with no options to upgrade to 11. Since the latest firefox update installed, I'm getting a screen that says "Oops, something's wrong," and then I'm kicked out of gmail. A screen asks about sending a report to Firefox, which I check OK for. Today this is happening about every minute to 30 seconds . What needs to happen?

I see many complaints about this new version v 149 for the Mac. The most outrageous one is that you can no longer drag links from a browser page (try BBC) to an email or a doc. You have to copy the link then it won't turn blue and only when received will it show up as a link. Like many others after 30 years use preferred over Safari and others I am seriously losing patience with Firefox. On the very day you announce split screen for Ff windows - you disable a vital feature that has worked for years causing me to waste so far 60 minutes of my hard pressed work time. Maybe this will be corrected in the next upgrade. But I am now intending to avoid all Firefox upgrades for 6 months after being offered. I doubt anyone on this forum will come back on this but my set-up is Mac OS Monterey - and Firefox v 148 worked perfectly before today. I hesitate to try and install the previous version because I am not used to doing such tech moves. Perhaps someone in the Mozilla head office congratulating themselves on the marvellous new upgrade will come across this but I doubt it

Hi, I had to reinstall my windows where I thought my Firefox would sync up upon reinstallation. However, nothing would sync up and the best I could do myself was to import pretty out-of-date Chrome data. When I to my firefox account and scroll to connected services I see my last PC name with its firefox login. Is there any way to recover that data and import to my current device? I read you kept sync data as encrypted data on your Mozilla servers, so I hope that's a viable solution.

I have been told to disable my ad-blocker by some commercial web sites and I understand that. But I am also not seeing charts and other non-ad items on web sites such as this one: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/alcohols-health-myth-over-how-tell-patients-2026a1000map?ecd=wnl_tp10_daily_260703_MSCPEDIT_etid8475291&uac=146695DK&impID=8475291. I don't want to change my default browser but this is a recent development that seems to be impairing my viewing of pertinent items placed on legitimate web sites. Somehow NordVPN caused my Firefox bookmarks on my macbook to be deleted (Nord has caused more problems than I've had in years). Many of the bookmarks are still on FF on my ipad. I've setup sync on both devices (at least I think so), but when I hit the sync button on my mac, the ipad's bookmarks don't appear on my macbook. On my ipad mozilla account 'everything I'm using and signed into' shows the macbook was active 7 minutes ago, and the 'sign out' box is available, so I must be signed in. Firefox on my iphone is the same. Any suggestions. It's getting to the point where it would be easier to setup new bookmarks.

Starting today (7/8/26), Firefox opens with a "cannot connect" message, have tried multiple online suggestions including downloading and "reinstalling" but nothing works

How to increase buffer time for video, how to load at least 2 min of video instead of how it's now about 30 seconds. I live in the countryside and I can't change my internet speed (I tried). I have the fastest speed that they can send, but still I can't watch anything normally because it constantly stops videos to load more

Try connecting on a different device. Check your modem or router. Disconnect and reconnect to Wi-Fi.

Hello, yesterday my 2025 Macbook restarted on it's own and my Firefox browser restarted too, and while it brought me back to all the tabs I had open, every single one of my bookmarks has disappeared. I only have one profile. All my extensions are working properly. The bookmarks sidebar and toolbar are both completely wiped clean. I've tried to go through the backup and restore options provided in this community previously, but going into my library and clicking 'backup' or 'restore' has done nothing. How can I recover my bookmarks? I had been saving small business links for years that are now just gone for seemingly no reason.

After updating Firefox to a newer version, some websites that previously worked on the older version started displaying **"Page Not Secure"** and **"Page Expired"** errors, preventing them from loading correctly.

I have grouped several tabs, I believe there were 3 groups in total. When I close Firefox and open it again at a later time, the grouped tabs are gone, but I was able to retrieve the groups by right clicking and selecting the hidden group.

Ever since the new update, the groups dissolve when I close Firefox and I can not open them again. The Edge Browser has it implemented such that groups stay, so when you close and open the browser, they stay greyed out on the side bar.

So, is this just a problem with my device, the new update or Firefox in general?

It would be really nice if this problem could be solved, such that I can keep groups even after closing the browser. And I can delete groups only when I want to.

when i open the browser today i noticed that my wallpaper which i've set isn't showing. i tried restarting and refreshing the browser but it didn't work. so i tried to change my wallpaper or see it again by clicking customize, but i only saw that i have allowed my wallpaper, but no picture or another option was shown.

I am facing a persistent video playback issue specifically in Firefox (latest version), while the exact same stream works perfectly fine on Google Chrome and VLC player.

When I try to play a high-definition HLS live stream from my network provider site (vraitv.com), the video stalls and buffers every few seconds. Upon inspecting the Firefox Web Developer Console, I notice frequent NS_ERROR_NET_TIMEOUT errors during the loading of .ts video chunks, along with occasional CORS warning flags.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Disabled Enhanced Tracking Protection for the site. 2. Started Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode (Safe Mode) with all extensions disabled. 3. Cleared all cookies and site cache.

Unfortunately, the issue persists. Are there any hidden settings in about:config (such as modifying network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server or increasing the media cache size) that can optimize how Firefox handles concurrent video chunk loading?

Any technical guidance would be highly appreciated.
