Mozilla should of made FF Mobile compatibility for Amazon Store a priority long ago! Makes me consider using another browser as my default browser on my Desktop! Also this community support site is worthless garbage! Months or year old problems without resolution or address, unacceptable!

Hi Whitebuck,

We did have Firefox for Android in the Amazon store, but had to pull it because the apk had been altered by Amazon. Sorry for the confusion there, it is something we are working on, but the progress is slow.

However, you can get Firefox for your Kindle from our FTP servers very easily. Note that you must enable installation of non-Amazon market apps in your settings first. Then, download from here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/15.0/android/multi/fennec-15.0.multi.android-arm.apk

You will need to update manually, so you should bookmark the following article with the FTP information for later use: Install Firefox on an Android device using Google Play

We are always working hard to answer every question that is asked in the forum and we are community-driven, so I hope you have success with Firefox on your Kindle.

Michelle your reply is greatly appreciated. What, may I ask is the E.T.A. on Firefox Mobile's arrival at the Amazon app store for the Kindle Fire. Thank you, Whitebuck

I've downloaded Firefox onto my Kindle Fire using the link that was provided in this post but whenever I tap on it in my carousel it opens for about 5 seconds and then closes. Just wanted to see if anyone had any solutions. Thank you for your time & assistance.

Are you using a Kindle Fire HD?

I installed FF mobile on a first generation KF and it did not work properly. Uninstalled. Maxthon is the best browser on KF and works like a mobile browser should. I tried Dolphin, Opera, Firefox / FF Beta and the Amazon default browser, none compare to Maxthon. I continue to hope that Mozilla will provide a KF compatible iteration to Amazon and it will work as well as Maxthon. It would be nice to sync my Mobile browser with my Firefox Desktop.

Nope it's a first generation Kindle Fire.

Whitebuck, It is not a issue of Mozilla providing mobile Firefox builds to Amazon, but rather what Amazon does to the files as Mozilla submitted mobile Firefox 9.0 to Amazon app store last December only to find Amazon modified it and re-signs apk and caused issues among other things and it was removed shortly after.

The blame game, Amazon blames Mozilla, Mozilla blames Amazon and that offers no help for myself or others who use Firefox desktop and would like to have Firefox mobile on their Kindle Fire to sync their data. But I must say, from my experience with Firefox mobile on Kindle Fire, I would probably keep Maxthon as my primary browser. Because the User Interface of Firefox Mobile did not compare to the efficiency of Maxthon. The Chinese seem to have effectively figured out how to build an excellent Mobile browser which is compatible with Amazons criteria. Good luck Mozilla on your apparently long suffering problems trying to understand what Maxthon obviously figured out long ago. Maybe Mozilla should contact Maxthon for some insight. Apparently I must accept the fact that Firefox mobile will never work properly on a Kindle Fire or be in Amazons App store. Until if and when?

Same here, tri'd this one: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/16.0/android/multi/ After starting app firefox shows startpage and then crashes after 3 or 4 seconds .. :(

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem as buntux does. I instralled release 16.0 for android on my kindle fire from the FTP server. After starting Firefox, showing the start page, it constantly crashes after a couple of seconds. Does anyone have a solution for that? PLEASE?

We don't support the Amazon Kindle HD at this time. Amazon breaks our package signing which will cause issues for Android devices that have both the Android Play Store and the Amazon App Store.

Not nice. Sad to hear this, so I have to use older Version of Firefox, Vers.12 in my case. Why 12 works and 17 not on Kindle Fire?

Kindle Fire HD 7". After reading the other comments and posts and responses , I downloaded and installed from link on this page (for reference, the URL ishttps://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/download-and-install-firefox-android).

The app opens, and then closes after a few seconds, as others stated in late 2012.

Is Mozilla working on solving this and providing a Firefox Browser through the Amazon App Store at this time?

The Kindle Fire HD crash is only fixed in Firefox 20. I recommend Firefox Aurora for non-store installs as it includes an updater. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/aurora/

We don't have any plans to ship Firefox in the Amazon app store because they modify our software.
