Unstable javascripts on Yahoo mail

I've currently started having a problem with unstable javascripts when firefox has been open for several hours and I then go to check my Yahoo Mail on its web client.

The system starts hanging with the following 2 javascripts becoming unresponsive:

resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:327

resource:///components/nsPromoter.js:68

If I'm lucky enough to have Firefox stop these scripts, a third unresponsive script that appears to be a part of Yahoo Mail's web client (the script has a path and file name the length of a paragraph) also shows up as being unresponsive.

However of late, it's not even getting past the 2 unresponsive scripts- with memory usage jumping to over a gig from around 4-500 meg, even when there are only 2 fairly media unheavy websites and a dozen ebay auctions open as other tabs. Also it will do it even when only 1 message tab is open within Yahoo Mail.

I've listed the login page as the URL of the affected site, however it only happens when you're logged in to Yahoo Mail.

Is anyone else starting to have this problem?

NB- upon reopenning Firefox to check on my version number, it became unresponsive while trying to check on updates. The only tab open was for a session restore.
