Mac OSX v10.6.7 won't let me replace FFv3.6.16 with FFv4.0 on MacBookPro (but did alow on iMac)?

I want to sync the bookmarks between the iMac and MacBookPro. Both have OSX v10.6.7. I have FF v4.0 on iMac, but the MacBookPro won't allow me to drag the FF loco to the Applications Folder. Also, the current Firefox on the MacBookPro does NOT display a "sync" tab in its Preferences menu??? What to do?
