I cannot delete bookmarks on my iphone, after syncing with my Windows laptop bookmarks.

On my laptop I imported my bookmarks from Chrome, moved them to the folder "Bookmarks Toolbar", then synced so I could access them on my iphone 8. I can access them fine, but when I go to delete one by swiping, it doesn't allow. If I go to a site that is bookmarked, not only is the option not there to remove the bookmark when I go to the top right 3 dots pull down menu, it asks if I want to bookmark - when it's already a bookmark. Am I missing something? This means after I'm done with something I've saved, I have to go back to the laptop to delete it.
