Do you mean this preference:

layout.css.scroll-anchoring.enabled

That mostly affects where Firefox scrolls to when reloading a page, for example, when going Back. Because the FB news feed dynamically adds content over time, the last scroll position can be a problem when going back because some content may not be loaded at the time Firefox jumps to the spot.
