Hi, I just got my ZTE Open C from France. I tried upgrading to FFOS 2 using these instructions : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/ZTE_OPEN_C

After the "Manual Install" section, the phone reboots, goes through the splash screen and then just displays a fully white screen. I cannot access the phone through adb anymore, it says "< waiting for device >". Rebooting just does the same thing.

The ZTE upgrade tool doesn't see the phone iether.

Can I do something about this ? thanks in advance...

Hi ffosan,

You may still be able to recover your device through Fastboot or through a Factory Reset.

Please view the following tutorial for a Factory reset:

Hi Ralph, thanks for your reply !

I went ahead and did the factory reset, but nothing has changed. The "recovery menu" that shows up when booting with vol.up+power also shows some errors (mising /tmp/error_code, /tmp/last_install, /tmp/source_code), if that's relevant. there is an option to upgrade from sd card : can I use that ? What file should I download and put on the card ?

thanks for your help

Hi again, does anyone have an idea ? thanks

Hi ffosfan,

Are you able to go onto Fastboot mode? To do this, you should Power Off your device and then:

  • Some devices, you hold Power + Volume Up
  • Some devices, you hold Power + Volume Down

Now type on your terminal:

fastboot devices

Is your device detected? If so, you may be able to restore your device following these instructions:

Please let us know if you continue to have issues. In the meantime, please get in touch with ZTE as well - since they are the manufacturer of your device, they may have specific troubleshooting steps.
